Sort by "Rank" Disappeared?
I used to notice a "rank" column in the library window. I would search for a resource and then be able to sort by "rank" to find the exact title I am looking for. I don't see that anymore and don't see it as an available column to add.
Here is an example. I am searching for the book by Graeme Goldsworthy, The Son of God and the New Creation. I couldn't remember the full title. So, I typed "Son of God" in the search of the library window. It pulled back all of the resources in the attached screenshot.
I used to be able to select the first column ("rank") and then would be able to find the resource that most closely matched my search.
Did the "rank" column and sort by that get removed? If so, can we request it to be put back?
Thanks!

Hmm. I think so. It seems to me that I read about another column which disappeared... it was not intentional. Perhaps it was in the beta forum.
EDIT: Actually, I think that "rank" was in searches, not in the library. It could have been in both.

You control which columns are shown. Click on the title bar and you should see a list of available columns with check marks beside those that are requested to show. Does rank appear in the list? Is it checked? Rank does appear to be missing in the beta.

I couldn't see it, but I had noticed it earlier today, so I closed all tabs and then opened a Library pane and now Rank is back.

Yes, it did - that's how you displayed or hid it

If that isn't the list you were looking in, which list were you doing so?
I wasn't looking in a list. I was looking in the Library pane (in 9.5 B1). I even ran the same search that the OP ran.

I double checked after reading through these and still didn’t see “rank” in the Library pane.
All I can say is that I can see it running your search in a freshly created Library pane in Verbum 9.5 Beta 1 on Windows 10.

Sounds good! I’ll look forward to the public release!

And I can't ..

I'm not sure that it used to work this way and I don't remember it being so. Rank column is not showing in the library unless it is filtered - then it will appear as the leftmost column in details view and is sortable and movable, but did not and does not show in the list of selectable columns. That's how it works in both Verbum 9.4 stable and Logos 9.5 Beta 1 on my Win 10 machine and I believe this has not changed recently.

I'll double check - I use it so rarely ..

Correct (as with Logos 8, Win 10). Jeff's issue appears to be Mac specific and won't be fixed in the Beta as there is no issue on Windows 10.

Yep. I checked it this morning during my study just to see if I was missing something and captured this screenshot. It's not there.
I find it helpful when I can only remember a couple words of a title and then sort by "rank" and usually get the right title near or at the top.
I looked into the filter but didn't see that it resolved anything with the Mac.
THANKS for the feedback! (Anything I need to do to request this to be put back on the Mac for future builds?)

Create a bug thread in the desktop beta forum and refer to this thread (state Mac user)

Jeff, one idea: we know that it is "not there" (may be it should, but it probably never has) in the list of selectable columns. However, it should be "there" in the library details view - and it remembers its position. Is it possible you just moved the Rank column "out of the way" to the right? If the column is narrow, the header "Rank" will vanish - maybe scroll your view to the right and look for a column with 1 in it?

Thank you! Will do.

Great question. Just checked and no "Rank" column to the right. I definitely remember it being there as I would notice the numbers in the "Rank" column would be jumbled and then I would realize that I had selected a different column by which to sort.
It seems it disappeared around the time the "Store" feature was added to the Library panel...

I actually don't see "Rank" in this screenshot either. I see "Rating"...but that is a different tag. "Rank" was always the first column and was numbered. As I have dug into this more, I also don't remember the thumbnails of the book covers showing. Maybe this is just something Logos decided to do away with.
As I mentioned, the functionality of the "Rank" column is very helpful. Currently, a more general search for "Son of God" returns 216 results in my library...the majority of which don't have "son of God" in the title. In this case, I could always click "Rank" and then the first 5 books would surely have the title for which I was searching.

When you say "filtered"...could you walk me through how you did that and got "Rank" to show?

"filtered" just means I put a search / selection into the library find box (here: "ephesians 5"). The library will filter i.e. not show all of my books but only those that match the criteria, which means having "ephesians" and "5" somewhere in the metadata. The Rank is based on an algorithm that calculates how good a resource fits that selection. Having "Ephesians" and "5" next to each other in the title field is the best match, that's how Josh Hunt's book made it to #1.
If not moved from its place, Rank will show as the leftmost column, but will not be there in the list of available columns (maybe the designers forgot to put it in [since it is not a database field of library metadata, but computed every time we filter the library] or deemed it too cumbersome to always check whether Rank is currently available for display or not).
All of this is to say, I didn't do anything to make it show up, in Windows it just works as always. We're seeing Logos 9.5 Beta 1 in this screenshot, the one quoted was from Verbum 9.4 stable, where I had moved the column a bit to the right.

Helpful explanation. Thank you!
Yes, the "Rank" column/algorithm function is how it used to work on Mac. However, as someone else noted, apparently, this is a Mac-only issue. I submitted a "bug" and hope the functionality can return.
Thanks again.

This is helpful. Thank you!
It appears this is isolated to Mac as the way you described the "Rank" function and algorithm is how it used to work for me. I have submitted a "bug" post and hope the functionality can get restored for Mac users.
Thanks again!

Not sure what happened, but...IT'S BACK! (See Screenshot)
It still isn't visible in the standalone Library Pane...but this will work!

This was fixed in 9.5 Beta 3.
