Logos 9.4.0.0009 MAC Crashes after a few minutes using the Sentence Diagramming Tool
The Sentence Diagramming tool stops responding after a few minutes of editing a diagram, presents the Spinning Pinwheel of Death, and the Logos App unceremoniously quits. Happens every time, regardless of the Sentence Diagram document I have open. I believe this has been happening on earlier releases, too.

Hello MJ,
I'm afraid I could not make sense of the laconic reply. Perhaps you mean “process 12” is a persistent problem to which you are once again calling attention?

in forums "to bump" means to bring a post back to the top of the display in hopes that it receives attention. I do this every weekend for posts in the last two weeks or so that have gotten no answers. The 12 is simply so the forum software doesn't kick it out as "spam" - each message must be unique so I add a number, or letter, or suffix, or synonym on whim ...

Aha. Thanks for the explanation! Let's hope the thread gets noticed!

Adding my experience to the list...Sentence Diagramming module seems to be the source of crashing. While diagramming any quick scroll up or down or left or right seems to trigger the crash.

Hi JWJ,
I'm having trouble reproducing this. Could you include a screenshot of your Sentence Diagram and even a screen recording so I can see exactly what you are doing?

Hi Philana,
Even after the upgrade to 9.5.0.0019, the problem persists. Scrolling around in a sentence diagram, especially once the lower boundary of the existing diagram is reached, seems to be the problem. In the attached screen recording, the Logos app quits suddenly. In other instances, Logos will display the Spinning Pinwheel Of Death and stop responding. Once this happens, the only option is force-quitting the app.8311.Untitled.mp4

Morning everyone!
Logos continues to crash when utilizing the Sentence Diagramming tool. To replicate all one needs to do is open Logos, then open an existing diagram and simply scroll up or down or left or right and it crashes.

Happy Thursday, again! 😎
This crash happened after a Mac shutdown and startup. Simply opened an existing diagram…began to scroll down. Spinning wheel of death preceded a crash in 15-20 seconds.Does anyone actually read these btws??? What is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow??? 🥥
I can be reached at {Bryan removed email} - or by message from an African swallow.

Yes, they are being read ... however, I'm not an computer Apple type - but I went to high school in Washington Apple country. That doesn't seem to help me read Mac Logs. Many people are leery of putting their email in forum posts because of spam and bots and other naughty things. Be patient and someone with Mac skills should get to you - remember this is peer-to-perr forums so ...

MJ,
Thanks very much for the reply and the helpful information. New to these parts, so appreciate the orientation. 🤓

Several things:
- As MJ stated, the forums are a means for crowd-sourced user support. FL employees do post and respond... sometimes. But it is not a primary means of communication with FL. If you need/desire communication with them, best to call.
- It is best to create your own thread. Your issue may or may not be related to the OP, and he or she may not want to keep getting notifications for replies to you. It would be perfectly fine to create a link to this thread.
- The logs that are really needed are your logos.log files. Please see my signature line.

JT,
Sincere thanks for this help! 🤓 My reply to MJ has yet to be approved - but I am new to these parts and truly appreciate the response and the details on submitting the log report.
I also did create a new thread this morning after the second crash and just after adding the 2nd reply. So, I am glad you confirmed that as a good practice.
Thanks!
Bryan

Finally, I am not the only one!!!!! i am sorry about your trouble but maybe Logos won’t think I am crazy and fix it.

The crash also happens after upgrade to iOS Monterey!

Lol...no, you're not crazy. Definitely an amazing tool - but something is causing it to be unstable within the Mac environment.

jwj, and Bryan,
Are both of you running Macs with Apple silicon (M1) chips?
0 -
I'm not. MacBook Pro 13in (2017) 16 GB ram running Big Sur 11.6.1

Thanks for the update, jwj. Did you happen to get the invite to the the LBS Troubleshooting Faithilfe group?
0 -
No. Never got the invite.

The problem has now also occurred in 9.16.006 running on an M1 MacBook Pro on MacOS Monterey 12.6.

Still having the problem..over a year later... and no fix as of yet ( I have had a case open for a year and no communication from Faithlife, this is unprofessional.). . Frustrating because I love the tool but am forced to use something other than Logos to do them. I have two Mac's...one has the M1 chip and the other does not. The one that DOES NOT have the M1 chip seems to work, but the one WITH the M1 chip crashes. I know that Logos is not native to the M1 platform, so perhaps that is the issue? Although, there is some buzz with some technicians that I have spoken with that they have an M1 chip Mac and they are not able to duplicate it. One would think that with the crash reports attached to the posts, that Logos would fix them. If Logos is not reading these posts, then what is the point of posting the technical data....users cannot change that only Logos can!

Remember that the forums are peer-to-peer with Faithlife participating intermittently. I'd go the telephone service route.
