BUG: Copying indented text from NICNT reverses indenting in notes

Copying indented text from NICNT reverses indenting in notes

I created an annotation to Luke 24:23b in the NIV and copied the text from the NICNT on that passage (see graphic):

The result is this:

Notice the text is reverse justified, past the left visible margin (with no scroll bar at the bottom of the  text box). A lack of formatting is one thing (and I expected it) but this is more than a lack of formatting. The top line of the copied text appears correct, as does the last line. Both of these lines are from the non-indented portion of the quote. Somehow the copy/paste protocol is not correctly handling all the formatting codes.

Looking at the formatting codes in WordPerfect suggests the cause: On the first line of the indented text there is a vertical advance code (expected), followed by a first line indent code of -0.25, followed by a left margin adjustment of 0.5. It looks like the note module accepted the first line indent code but not the left margin adjustment code. The other lines are handled with left margin adjustment codes, all of which are ignored by the note module. You will also notice that the very first line of the quoted text in the note is indented. Once again WordPerfect shows that there is an first line indent code of 0.25 (positive vs. negative this time).

It would be helpful to either strip the first line indent codes from text pasted into the note module, or to also allow margin adjustment codes to be imported and handled properly.

(BTW, interesting observation on structure of the pericope by Green.)

Thanks for pointing out that parallelism in Green's commentary.  Very interesting.   I tried copying this particular section into clippings, and the formatting turned out perfectly.  I guess no surprises there.   I understand that you might want a note about this parallel structure attached to the passage in Luke, but it seems it would be just easier to hyperlink to Green's NICNT commentary.   What I did was attach a note to the passage  - "See Green's inverted parallelism for this section", with a hyperlink to the section in the commentary.   I appreciate that you have found a bug but I just not sure whether preserving the formatting for every possible cut and paste operation is really that important for Logos notes, not when you can hyperlink to the actual text.

For me it is very important - at least for outlines, parallels and chiasms. My source text is frequently not Logos. Even when it is Logos, for some types of work I want the information gathered together in a note or clippings file.

I duplicated the copy & paste error in both a note proper and in a note attached to a clipping. The clipping proper maintains the proper formatting.

I would find preserving the formatting a nice addition, but not requirement for notes. What I don't want is formatting that must be undone to have the information viewable. After posting this here, I pasted the text without formatting into WordPerfect, adjusted the indents with spaces and copy/pasted into the notefile without problems.

I can reproduce this problem and have filed a bug report.
