Logos 9 or Faithlife Connect, which do you prefer?

Hello,
I have a very old Logos Bible Software on my computer.
I am very satisfied with my current Bible resources in my Logos Digital Library for now.
I have a choice:
A) Upgrade to Logos 9 and buy the updated Software package with the full features which means I need to purchase the Silver or Gold package per Logos Sales Representative so it will fully integrate with all the digital resources:
Or
Go with a monthly/annual subscription plan using the Faithlife Connect.

Just curious about what others in this forum prefers to use and the reason why or why not for each option.
Thanks!
Blessings,
Curtis

Personally I prefer to own rather than to rent. If my financial situation should change, I can at least use what I already have (with an updated free engine). If I understand it rightly, with FL connect, if I couldn’t afford the subscription any more, I’d lose what I previously had access to.
Perhaps I’m in error about this though.

Both for me since my FL Connect No Library is something I got grandfathered in when Logos Now ceased to exist. If I cancel I might not be able to get a deal like this one where I get FL TV, 3 free ebooks per month and a 25% Lexham Press coupon. It all depends on your needs and personal preference.

I would think you could get a full feature upgrade without having to get Logos 9 silver or gold. [View:https://www.logos.com/product/195570/logos-9-full-feature-upgrade:550:0]. I could be wrong. There are some datasets that need certain resources so I am probably not the expert.
The cost is considerable up front if you buy, not huge, huge, but for me it would be $363. If you do not have that kind of money, then a subscription option of $99 a year would give you the same thing.
The other advantage the subscription has over the full feature set is that there are some features that are only available through the subscription and you would not have access to those if you purchased. One is the Lemma In Passages Guide section.
The biggest advantage I find to the subscription is that sometimes we get newer features sooner. So if a new feature is ready to go but will not come out to everyone until a new release, you might get it sooner under the subscription plan.
I do the subscription plan for the last 2 reasons, but it is totally each individual's preference. Once you buy, you have permanent access even if your circumstances change. The subscription is lower up front cost, and some additional features and improved timing.

if you are satisfied for now, the third option might be good for you:
C) Upgrade to Logos 9 Basic for free and enjoy with what you have already unless you want to get the latest datasets

I forgot about all that. In addition, you get a mobile ed course for free that is yours for 6 months. At least 1 on the essentials package and more at higher level packages.

I say Connect. Try the features out, kick the tires, and see what's really good. Then ask your budget, if you want to buy. (I'm a buyer, but spread over many years.)

Yes, Carla, I forgot about one course to preview in full every 6 months. Not a bad deal and without a library so no worries about paying twice to access stuff I already own 👍😁👌

For me, the essential purpose of Logos is as a digital search library. At its most basic level, I want to be able to search my entire library for words or phrases. Many of the "features" expand beyond that. They are helpful, they are good, but I could live without them.
My 2¢: I am fine with "renting" features, knowing that if I stop doing so, I will lose them. On the other hand, I want to "own" my resources.
If I were preaching regularly or taking courses as a student, I would want all the features. My current employment does not make the extra features a necessity, but I enjoy them and still use some of them. For that reason I am a FC subscriber.
One thing to note: A FC subscription also provides discounts and a "rebate certificate" type program based on expenditures. Some users find that they exceed the cost of the subscription via the savings. (I am not in that boat, but the majority of my spending is over).
