Word of Promise Audio Bible
I was just wondering, to those that have this resource, if it has been broken up into chapters? I found this resource from an online music store but apparently it is difficult to scroll to whatever chapter you wish to begin.
Also, there seems to be 35 resources at $3.99 each. Total price will be about $140 USD. I don't know how long this resource has been available. Has anyone noticed if there has been a discount in the past? I'm a little surprise that there isn't a complete "Word of Promise Audio Bible" resource for a discounted price. If a Faithlife employee is reading this, Is this coming? Should I wait?

Interesting... I can't help you with your questions, but I bought the Word of Promise CDs years ago (from Costco!), digitized them and have been listening to this EXCELLENT Audio Bible every day as part of my Bible study (I'm just starting my 11th year of "reading my Bible in a year" plan because of it - life changing!) Two reasons I can recommend this to everyone:
- This is a word-for word audio bible of the NKJV, nothing added, nothing taken away.
- The theatrical sound design, music and voice talents are EXQUISITE: you can pretty much hear Moses (Richard Dreyfuss) dying of old age as we go through Deuteronomy for example, and Esau (David Blatt) begging his father for a blessing like a man who really has realized what a horrible mistake he made in giving up his birthright, and who has now been tricked a second time.
- In fact, there are times I HIGHLY recommend that you actually listen to it with earphones on so you can really hear what what they did: during the creation account, and for the Book of Revelation. Wow.
- Finally, at the end of Revelation don't forget to make sure you listen to Michael W. Smith's (he also had a small role - Cleopas - in the series) magnificent closing song about Messiah and His people (hopefully it's included with the product sold by Faithlife).
'Nuff said. I love this thing! [:D] Just this morning I was listening to Michael York, the series' narrator, describe the creation of articles for the Israelites' tabernacle as they travelled in the wilderness.

Personally, I don’t see any value in audiobooks in Logos. The only exception would be if someone wanted a “read along” version, but that doesn’t do anything for me. Audible would be a much better choice for this resource. If FL wants to sell audiobooks to me, they’d need to make a compelling reason.

It's currently on sale as a complete Bible (https://www.logos.com/product/195321/the-word-of-promise-audio-bible-new-king-james-version-nkjv-complete-bible-nkjv-audio-bible). I purchased four individual books for $2.99 each (would be closer to $200 for the whole Bible, that way). After scrolling through every single item in the search, I did finally find the complete Old Testament and the complete New Testament. Last of all, after I had already bought all that, they advertised the complete Bible for sale. I returned all the others, and got the complete Bible.
The desktop version has an index, where you can select the book and chapter you want. The mobile version, so far as I can tell, has no index system, whatsoever. You literally have to scroll through every single chapter of the Bible to get where you want. Hope I'm wrong about that. If anyone knows of any way to pick the chapter you want, without scrolling through the entire Bible, please let me know. --Can't believe it would be like that.

Audio Bibles would be a lot more useful to my family, if they were integrated with the Logos Bible reading plans, and if you could sync them to your Logos, text Bibles. That way, you could just tap an arrow every day to begin your daily Bible reading. Also, they need some kind of verse picker for the mobile version. As it is, you literally have to scroll through every single chapter in the Bible to find the one you want. You can't type the reference in either. If I'm wrong about that, I hope someone tells me how you can navigate the mobile audio Bibles.

Does this sync with the same Bible as it reads, like the esv audio Bible?

Not that I'm aware. When I pull up the New King James version, there's no option to select an audio Bible in the menu.

The only two English bibles that do this, as far as I am aware, is the ESV and LEB. In both cases the "read aloud" is the official audiobook for the translation.

Word of Promise Audio Bible is now available in an app for Android phones and probably for IOS as well. It is also in the Kindle store. You can choose your book and chapter in the app. I have this resource and use it when I am in the car and listen to my Bible while driving. The only complaint I have, and it isn't much of one, is that the dramatization makes it take too long to get through the section I want to listen to. I have Bibles on audible but cannot pick and choose the chapter, so I prefer listening to one of the audio Bibles in Logos or the Word of Promise rather than audible.

Where, in the Logos mobile version, are you finding the option to pick the book? On mine (Android app), it's just every single chapter in the entire Bible, lumped into one, long list. It shows the name of the book by the chapter number, but it doesn't have a collapsed list of books to choose from. You just have to keep scrolling and scrolling till you get where you want.

Carla said that it was available in an app, which I assume meant "in another app by the publisher"

Anyone plans on integrating this with the NKJV Bible? I would like other audio bibles to follow along with the translation that they are using like what was done with the Lexham English Bible.

I dont think so. The ESV and LEB have "official" audiobooks. This is not the "official" audiobook for the translation (if there even is one).

Sorry, I meant in the Word of Promise App on my phone. I can choose the Book, chapter, and verse I want to go to without having to scroll through all the Bible Chapters. What you are showing here is what I see when I use the HCSB audio Bible in Logos. I did not even know, before you posted here, that Word of Promise was available in Logos. Since I have already purchased it through the publisher's app, I do not see purchasing it and using it in Logos. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

This is a very good dramatized version, and it's a great price at US$9.99 for the whole Bible. Thanks for the recommendation!

Randy, I was able to use the Table of Content feature to jump to the specific book and chapter of the Bible.

Can you please show me a screenshot that shows this? I can't find any table of contents on the mobile version.

Yeah, I bought the WOP app also. The mobile audio quality is better on the Logos version. --Also bought it on another mobile app, where it has HQ audio, plus a chapter and verse picker, automatic text scrolling, and a car-mode with easy navigation. --Would really like to have that in Logos.

I would think they could make any audio bible sync with the translation in Logos. We can even have multiple editions for each translation. I simply want to hear the bible read and have logos follow along in the translation.

It's the ToC button (it looks like 4 horizontal lines with unequal widths) next to the "Enter reference or search" search box, up top. Do you see it?

I am in full support of this... but:
John Brumett said:I would think they could make any audio bible sync with the translation in Logos. We can even have multiple editions for each translation.
I think there are two likely obstacles in the way.
- Licensing agreements - Having an audiobook scroll with a book implies a contractural connection which may not exist. The ESV has an official audiobook. In fact, the publishers give it to us for free in Logos... but prohibit us from being able to download it and use it offline. The LEB is owned by FL, so they can sync up the text and audio without limitations.
I searched Audible's website for "Whisper Sync" bibles and found only one: The Message. This lines up with my speculation about an "official" audiobook. I thought I found another ("The Story," based on the NIV), but that is a "snippet" bible with additional commentary.
Is anyone aware of another software company that has multiple audiobook choices synced to the appropriate bible text? If there were, it would give me more hope. For the record, the publishers of both the text and audio would have to agree to allow this feature. You would think that they would want to, but in licensing agreements, things don't always make sense from a user perspective. For example: Amazon/Audible might not like other vendors gaining abilities they don't have so they exert pressure on the publishing company to prohibit other vendors from making those changes. - Cost to produce - Getting the audio and text to sync is time intensive. That means $$$. If there weren't any licensing agreement issues, FL would still have a huge cost barrier to overcome. Who is going to pay for this? I would imagine that the most likely scenario is that the audiobook sync feature would be added to FL subscription, which would provide another compelling benefit.

An exception would be if someone wanted to read the version, but that doesn't change anything.

Randy, when you mention the Android mobile version, are you talking about Word of Promise on the mobile Logos app, or are you talking about the Word of Promise app itself? I do not own the Logos version, so I cannot help you there, but I can help with the Word of Promise app if you need it.

I was trying to find out if there was any kind of navigation system for the Logos, Android version. It looks like the IOS version at least has a menu. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any for Android yet. Yes, I understand now, that you're talking about the WOP app, not Logos for Android. I also own the WOP app, and understand how to use the verse picker it features. Thanks, and sorry for the confusion.

The Bible.is app offers multiple translation and follows along in each translation.

I assume you mean the "Bible" app from Lifechurch, right? If so, note:
- The NKJV, which is in discussion in this thread, does not have a read aloud function.
- I am unaware of any capability to have multiple audiobooks for a single translation. If I am mistaken, can you direct me to how to do this?
EDIT: I figured out how to do it. Very cool. Still curious if there are any "for profit" apps that have this capability. the Bible app is a unique creature.
