Night Time Reading

Hello!

I am wondering if night time reading or having a black background with white text possible with Logos 4 and the iPhone app. I searched on the forum but did not find anything about it.

If it isn't, is Logos thinking of making this feature available? It's really easy on the eyes, especially with a small screen like the iPhone or iPod Touch.

Thanks!

I would agree. I was using the Kindle app in bed last night. My wife was trying to go to sleep and I had my Kindle on. VERY bright. I turned it down. Still too bright with white page and black text. So I remembered it had white on black. She was happy and I was still able to read.

Can't do that in Logos YET. Here's hoping.

If you triple click the button at the bottom of your iPod/iPhone it will invert your colors and let you read white on black

This is a setting in Settings -> General -> Accessibility. It looks like this may only be available on 3GS and the newer iPod touch.

It may be available on 3GS, but I don't see it on the 3G ITouch.

It's there.  It's under Setting on the Ipod - Not the app-.  Go to General, Accessability and it's the white on black option.  I tried it and thought I liked the reading set that way, I didn't like that it changed the whole look of my Touch and I've sort of gotten used to the look and didn't the everything changed.  Wish it could just be set for wiithin the app.

I stand  corrected. I was looking for the settings in Logos. Instead the settings are on the ITouch operating system itself and are accessed through the IPOD Settings. Works fine.

April, Boy you are quick. I got your reply right after I went back and figured it out. Thanks.

    That is correct, Dave.

I have the iPhone 3G and the menu option you described is not there.

However, people could go to Settings, Brightness and either lower it, or set the auto-brightness on.

Works for me, but is is haloween colors

Halloween colours [:D] I see what you mean.  At first I changed the "White on Black" to ON, and had those ghastly colours as it merely inverts everything.

At the bottom of the screen is the option to make a triple click of the home button do the change. This is by far preferable as then your iPhone/iPod can remain in the normal scheme until you are actually using the Logos app and reading a book....a triple click will give you white text on a black background and no haloween until you go back to anything with colour again, in which another triple click will restore it to normal.

Thanks to Jacob for pointing out this tip originally!

Yes, the triple-click option that you describe is exactly how I do it on my iPod touch

I don't think all of the iPod Touch models have this feature.  I have the 8G (early 2009) and it doesn't have the Accessibility option in the General Settings.

Roger is right. I did a little research and found out that only 32gb and 64gb iPod touch have the accesibility feature. The 8gb does not have that function, which could be because the program is too large for the 8gb to handle.

Thank you all for your reply. I am hoping that Logos iPhone/iPod app will incorporate this wonderful feature.

    Thanks again!

Did anyone find out if it's possible to do it on Logos 4 on a PC, the accessibility feature doesn't seem to work for me (that in "Accessibility" and "change contrast"). I'd sure like it, would be much easier on the eyes. I've left it so, so far, white on black on my IPhone4.

    Thanks,

Hi Craig! Welcome to the forums. [:)]

To be honest, I am a little confused by your post. Are you trying to change something on your computer or phone? What do you want it to look like?

By the way, its always a good idea to check the date when replying to a post. The newest post in this thread before yours is 2.5 years old! [;)]

I think Craig is saying he has opted to leave his phone as is, but would like to know if 'night light' is a feature of Logos 4.

The orignal OP also asked about both Logos 4 and mobile devices but everyone missed that point and only answered about mobile devices.  Hence Craig is now asking about the unanswered but of the OP's original post..

In answer to your question about Logos 4 having this feature on the desktop the answer is no.  In program settings you can change the background color from a white, paper or light grey etc, but nothing like you are asking.  If you change to a high contrast theme in the windows display options, Logos  4 doesn't play well.  This is another example of where in the quest to cut user support costs by eliminating user choice that Logos is actually failing those who have visibility issues and require different colour options from those chosen by a designer sitting in a office completely separate from the end user.

Thank you all for your replies. Alabama..., I only did a search in the forums to find out about the night-time reading feature, found these posts/ threads and seemingly outdated material (which points to the fact that the question was unresloved for Logos 4) and needed an answer and posted my query. I'm not a frequent forum visitor, so the etiquette, etc., is beyond me--thank you for your patience.

I appreciate the answer, Andrew. It would be nice for Logos 4, but hey, at least it's on the IPhone app. God bless and take care.

And thanks, Andrew, for resolving the original question for Logos 4 and night-time reading.
