fairly new to Logos - came from Bibleworks - with some stop at some open-source-projects that run also on Linux.

Heard alot about Logos:

Logos 9 Basic is the free version. Just add it to your cart and "purchase" it. You don't need to add a credit/debit card since you won't be charged.

Logos 9 Basic and Verbum 9 Basic are Free (Logos & Verbum resources can be used in either application). If qualify for Academic program, Logos 9 Academic Basic is also free.

Logos Wiki has => Free Logos Books !!

If (when) want to purchase more, suggest starting with Logos 9 Fundamentals OR Verbum 9 Fundamentals (Fundamentals does not have dynamic pricing so purchasing Fundamentals first causes price reduction in larger base packages).
