Number of Resources....

Ok, I am pretty sure I understand what is going on but I wanted to
ask anyway. Maybe you'll will have an idea how to solve my problem.

I
have set up another computer connected to the internet and synced up
everything. On my first computer there are 1523 resources and on my
second there are 1520 resources. I have updated resources on the second
and it says there are none. Both computers have only L4 on them. They both have internet.

Now that I am thinking about this some more....I do not know what is up. Is there a way to quickly find these resources without going item by item in the library?

If you could share the directory of the higher numberd computer over your network, you could "scan resourcepath" from the lower count computer. That's assuming they're on the same network of course.

You could copy the entire resource directory to a backup drive and do the same if they're not on the same network.

Other than that, I'm afraid I don't know of a shortcut.

I take it that both computers are running Windows, because if one is a Mac running Logos 4 Mac Alpha, then there is a discrepancy owing to certain features not yet being available on Mac.

BTW my apologies for answering your post about internet connection assuming you were located in Britain. I realise from another post that you are in USA. [:S]

If you can do a file compare of the two folders, see which 3 files are missing, copy them over or to a USB thumb drive etc., and then SCAN it to pick them up. Or just copy the whole larger folder to a USB drive, carry to other computer, and the SCAN it to pick up the resources.

Search the forums for a thread about an updated version of the lexham bible. It seems to me there might have been an earlier version which was replaced but not removed.

Maybe you have multiple copies/versions of some titles? For example, I have two editions of Pilgrim's Progress, I just found out today.

Here's a way to compare what's missing on one computer at the file level (I'm an old DOS geek, so I still do stuff like this from the command line; I don't know if there's an easy way to do this from within the Windows GUI).

On each computer:

Open a Command prompt
CD your way into your Resources directory; e.g., on Vista, it would be:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\random\ResourceManager\Resources
Type dir /b > L4files.txt

This will create a bare directory listing (just filenames; no timestamp or header/footer info) in alphabetical order of all the resource files.

Then you can do a file comparison between the two versions of this file.

I think you can use it for free for an eval period, but I have a license (it's cheap) and I use it to do a folder compare of the two resource folders on my laptop/desktop. It's an invaluable tool IMHO, and guaranteed you will see a difference between your two L4 folders, there are 3 files difference between the two!
