I am trying to develop a list of resources for small group leaders. I am interested in resources that would be the basics you would use for every lesson. Obviously this will change from person to person but I am looking for resources that could help teachers every time they go to prepare.
For example on my list would include:
1) Talk Thru the Bible
2) The Lexham Cultural Ontology Glossary
3) Nelson's Teaching Outlines of the Bible
The emphasis here is on application, context, key verses, questions, quickly gaining the big picture of the passage as it fits in book begin studied and the Bible as a whole.

Hands down the most valuable resource for any small-group leader is the Serendipity Bible. It is now out of print, but in the margin of NIV text are 3 sets of questions for every section of scripture:
1. Open (Ice Breaker)
2. Dig (Study)
3. Reflect (Apply)
The original author (Lyman Coleman) has a newer version, but the latest work does not hold a candle to the original.
I scanned the margin questions several years ago and continue to use this resource. I have been leading small-group studies for over 40 years now.

What kind of theological background(s) are we to assume of the small group leaders in question? Is your interest exclusively in resources for Baptist small group leaders?

S = Scripture (Where’s it at ?)
O = Observe (What jumps out ?)
A = Apply (What to do ?)

Don I saw a thread where this was being discussed in like 2015 or something like that. In that thread they were saying the CSB was going to be updated. Having never seen the Serendepity Bible I have no way of knowing. Has it been updated To include items in the origina?

Ed, as JT indicated above the current work from Lyman Coleman is called the CSB Life Connections Study Bible, finally available in Logos.

I still use my personal book version of the Serendipity Bible in Logos. When the CSB version was first available, I purchased the Kindle version and was disappointed as it seemed to skimp on dig questions, while offering commentary on the page bottom. Both versions provide margin questions for the entire Bible.
