Is everyone believing that the present Logos will work seamlessly with the thrilling new Windows 11 or are we to look forward to a few meltdowns?

Windows is the primary operating system that Logos runs on. I am sure that it will be a top priority to get it up and running on 11.

Are you doubting? If so what makes you sceptical?

Thanks for the heads up JT and Mr Santo. And to you Mike, there is next to no doubts and not really skeptical either. It just crossed my mind if there were any known hiccups or if there were going to be any weird burps or belches but from the responses you guys have given, it looks like a go. Well it is a go if we have the TPM chip aboard which I don't. [:)]

One of Microsoft's biggest priorities with Windows is and has always been compatibility. Their bread and butter comes from their corporate customers and they run crazy old stuff forever. There's nothing in 11 that is a significant change in software compatibility that would cause any significant issues unless you go with an ARM processor. That's still a work in progress. There could always be minor driver or other bug issues that crop up in a new version, but issues like that will be sorted out soon enough and the massive catalogue of Windows software (including Logos) will move forward to the next version like every other time a new version of Windows is introduced. Nothing to see here.

Apparently Mr Wojnar, it appears there will be no problems. Thanks for the heads up.

I've been running Windows 11 for a couple of months and haven't had any issues with Logos 9.

It seems from what I've been reading so far, all seems to be operating within normal parameters. Thanks for the heads up Phil.

Yeah. That is why Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic works on a modern machine. Uh, wait... It doesn't do that well unless you play lots of games to make it work...

And of course, Win16 support has been dropped for all Win64 versions. I hear the best way to get that to run on a modern Windows machine is to install Win98SE or Win 3.1 on top of DOSBox.

And bringing things back to Logos, I remember when Libronix used IE for display - and when IE 7 came out, Logos had an update cycle that came out at the same time. Logos was good to make sure that their software both worked with old IE 6, as well as the prerelease of IE7. But MS broke things when the actual version of IE7 came out. And yes, Logos very quickly had a patched version that worked with the official version, but so much for future-proofing...

That said, Logos the way Logos works with free updates, I am sure that if happen to be any Win 11 hickups, they will be fixed promptly for free.

That was a great game! The problem with older games on newer versions of Windows is they often have code that accesses hardware in workarounds and not fully supported APIs to squeeze out a little extra performance. That's not something that you see in productivity software like Logos, hence you can still run old versions such software on Windows with only a patch needed here or there.

I agree. I figure it this way.... No matter what MS does...  Faithlife will want Logos to run on it. I have every confidence of that. [8-|]
