So ... I create a PB on my desktop...... then I go to my laptop the next day..... and try to access my PB... and it says I don't have a license to view that book.

Are PBs files kept on the computer they are created on or is there something I am missing?

I am thinking the actual files are kept on the computer they are created on.

Yes, they are kept on the computer they are created on, but if you click "Upload" after building them, they will be uploaded into the cloud so they'll be available on other computers when you sync from there.

Rosie gave you the answer, but for a bit more clarification:

In a default installation, the metadata syncs (name of book, author, etc.), but the compiled file does not. Not having a "license" is the expected (by FL!) behavior when you try to access a personal book on a different computer unless you have taken one of three other measures:

    1. You can "upload" as Rosie suggested.
    2. You can manually copy the compiled file and import it
    3. You can compile the file on the other device.

When you "upload" a compiled resource, there isn't an actual "delete" function, so beware. Manually copying the file and using the scan feature helps to eliminate that problem if it is a concern to you. Compiling the file on the other device is also an option, but you will have to figure out how to manage syncing of the original .docx file and make sure to recompile anytime changes are made.

Thanks to both of you.  At least there is a way to see my PB on other computers.

You and most of the rest of us that make PBBs

But you can save the DOCX files that make the PBB as PDF files and move those files and can read them on the mobile device. [Not the same :(]
