visual filters . forcing line break after punctuation ?
Is there any way for a visual filter to force a line break after punctuation or other key words like "for" or "because" or etc?
I've just seen the layout of the "Memorization Study Bible" which breaks apart each verse into smaller chunks, often following punctuation, to help in memorization.
I have a LibreOffice Writer macro that does this after copy-paste from Logos to LO but it might be handy to see what a Logos visual filter could do.
Even better would be a visual filter that substituted symbols for words (e.g., ∪ for "you" or b4 for "before") and then turn words into initials (1st letter only) except for the symbols which can be multiple letters (per example above). Of all memorization schemes I've tried, initials works best for me especially with symbols substituting for common words. I am trying to do all this in Python but stumbling badly as a beginner.
Thanks.

Yes, one of the predefined highlighting palette Empasis Markup has a line break in it. IIRC it takes a bit of futzing around to get it into another palette to modify for newline before only. It's been years since I set up my visual filter that uses it. Punctuation is more difficult because the search generally ignores punctuations.

Thanks for the tip. I found the highlighting style and duplicated it to allow editing. But I cannot see where the newlines are being invoked. I will probably just keep doing what I do in LibreOffice and keep learning Python for my ultimate solution.

IIRC I could not get it to work duplicating the style. I duplicated the palette and deleted all the style except the line break ... then created the other styles I needed. The resulting palette for converting Bible text into lectionary text with sense lines for reading works well as a highlight. I don't think I tried the next step of visual filter.
