Hello. I'm trying to do a search I think should be simple enough, but I'm not having much success,. I'm trying to find all verses where God is the object of blessing. I can find verses where God blesses and is blessed together, but I'm trying to find out how to limit it to one direction. I did not see any exact hits in the forums so I am hoping there is a simply syntax out there someone knows.

Thanks!

Does something like this give you what you are looking for?

object:God verb:to praise; to bless; (pt. pass) blessed, filled with strength, full; praised, adored; to wish on oneself a blessing

This is in a clause search with God as the object and choosing the verb associated with to bless

I must be doing something wrong as I'm getting no hits with this search under clause with All passages in LHB like on your screenshot.

Is there a way in a syntax search to just specify directionality without a specific subject? It seems like a search should be possible that would have a non specified subject, a verb of 'to bless', and a target of <person God>.

Please post a screenshot showing your search

That is effectively what the search I suggested is doing? Any particular reason you want to do this as a syntax search?

If you mean that God is the benefactive of the blessing, only a semantic clause search will get you accurate results but I find no results.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Strangely I just opened Logos again and it opened to exactly where I was before with a clause search and the LHB selected. I pasted the search just like before and this time received multiple hits. Not sure why that did not happen last time.

As far as a syntax search, I was looking for that mostly due to it seeming simpler to my lack of Logos search skills. I'm not particularly sure what the difference in the search types even is. This time it did give a reasonable looking list of results, so thanks!
