search forces full screen mode
When I do a search in the homepage search box, the search results always end up defaulting to full screen mode. I've searched settings and can't find anything that would seem to change this. Any ideas?

OK. I am not an expert in this area, but you are on some version of macOS. You are on the homepage using a custom sized window. You run a guide for "Genesis 1:1" through the omnibox and the home screen shuts off, the guide opens, and the window changes shape.
You <might> be able to fix this by creating a custom guide shaped the way you want it to be. However, the behavior shown in your video is the expected behavior: 1) the homepage window closes, 2) a new window opens based upon the guide settings.

It sounds to me like you may have customized the Passage Study Home Page Layout. Part of a customized layout is the size of the window at the time you customized it. After loading the layout, resize your window as desired, then right click on the layout in the Layouts menu and choose to "Replace with current layout".
