Feature request: Syncing Mobile and Desktop Layouts
I'd very much like to see an option where I can twin a desktop saved layout with a mobile saved layout so that progress in open resources is synced across desktop and mobile.
At the moment if I have multiple resources open on my desktop (let's say NIV, ESC, Commentary X) and the same resources open on a mobile saved layout. when I read on my mobile and update the layout to save the progress and then open those same three resources in a saved layout on my desktop the progress is not synced between. The desktop resources are open at where I left off when I was last using that layout on Logos desktop not where they are now on mobile.
Brothers and sisters, this should not be. Please look into a way to twin a desktop layout with a mobile one so that I can starting reading on my desktop, save the layout and then carry on exactly where I left off on the bus via mobile, update the layout, and then pick things up again where I left off on mobile when I get back home.

I don’t believe this is a layout sync issue but more to do with resource syncing.
The way this has worked for a long time - and I believe still does - is that if the resources are open on both platforms (desktop and mobile) the positions are not synced. However if the resources are closed on one - such as mobile - then when they are opened they should open to the same place as on the desktop.
What happens if you have the layout - and associated resources - closed on mobile while working on the desktop and then open the layout just prior to wanting to use it on mobile?

I can't seem to get it to work. If I close the resources on mobile and the open the desktop layout they open at the location they were when I last updated the desktop layout and vice versa on Mobile.
I guess I could just open them on mobile/desktop whenever I want to read them but I don't want to have to open and close five resources every time... Perhaps I could put them in a custom collection on the desktop so I could open them a bit quicker. Dunno.
The lack of handoff between mobile and desktop is really annoying and I hope FL address it soon. I can't be the only person having this problem.

What is your projects idea, JT?

And that is because you don't understand what Faithlife means by "layout!"
To get this to work as Graham describes, you would need to open the resource in a BLANK layout.
The quick version of my gripe: A "layout" implies a shape, a pattern. With FL, "layouts" are kind of like "projects," and this can be very handy. However, these PROJECTS don't sync to mobile.
FL needs to scrap their current use of the term "layout" and implemented "projects" that do sync. They should reintroduce "layouts" as project agnostic patterns which can be FILLED with a project. So, for example, you can work on a wedding sermon on your laptop with one layout, your HUGE iMac with a different layout, and your iPad with a third layout. The resources in all of those layouts would sync location data, but not the shape or tab positioning.

This is exactly what should happen. There's a lot of videos and functionality labels all throughout logos and it looks like it'll be very intuitive, but then you discover it's very pretty but a complete rabbit warren. They need a design person to come in and make the platform intuitive. I totally agree with your comments regarding the connotations of layout vs. project. And yes, the fact that resources don't sync and layouts can only be accessed on the device you created them is not a feature I was expecting!

Hi Steve - and welcome to the forums
And yes, the fact that resources don't sync
They do sync if not already open on the "target computer" with the rationale being that if that is where you left it on that computer, that is where you want to find it when you come back to it. The pros and cons of this have been debated for some time
layouts can only be accessed on the device you created them
This is not actually the case. While they can't sync from desktop/laptop to mobile they can (and do) sync between multiple desktop/laptop environments.
