What is the best recommendation? I presently have FCE but am wondering at this stage of the game, whether I should just buy the latest Logos or continue on with the annual subscription? Any advice?

Don't buy FCE, it's been dead for 2 years. No real advantage. You'll be wasting $120/yr.

Unless you super duper need those extra tiny features dataset. Otherwise regular L9 is perfectly fine for normal biblestudy/pastoral/student.

I can only relate my thinking on the matter. There are a few pieces that I regard reach year.

    1. I always think about losing features versus the value I get for them that I get through FC. I honestly don't use some of those powerful features often, usually being content with simple lookups, but when I need them, it's nice that they're there. I could buy features, of course, but I would miss the new stuff, which may or may not be important to me.

    2. The 2% rebate that comes for purchases is, for me, a nice benefit, especially with a new version likely coming up in the next calendar year. I tend to buy some base packages when the new ones come out. I'm not saying that the whole FC price is recouped, but it contributes.

    3. The freebies each month aren't huge for me, but there are enough P.D. resources on my wish list that I find interesting that that benefit still enters my consideration.

    4. Finally, how do the benefits stack up against the price? For me, it is currently worth it.

I know what I say here is pretty basic, but I'm pretty systemic in my thinking about it.

Thank you for the replies. Since I haven't looked at this for a long time, can you give a link regarding the pros and cons, such as continuing on with FCE or to buy Logos 9. Thanks.

I don't know about you but I spent thousands this year on upgrading to Logos 9. The 2% cashback in February should be nice. Right now that 2% is really the only thing keeping me with the subscription.

It appears Matt, that you didn't buy into the FCE. I've kept up till Logos 7 and was wondering if I should stay where I'm at or take a lien against the house and buy Logos 9. Thank you for your reply.

One other component I forgot to mention earlier (and I thought someone mentioned this), is the access to a different mobile ed course every 6 months. Since most of these courses, even the big ones, are not something that I'd go back to after completing them, that seems like a decent benefit.

It seems I had (have) Logos 7 before I switched over to FCE and to buy Logos 9, will cost me what I would be paying for FCE for the next 4 years or so. So at this point, it seems it would be best for me to remain where I am.

Thanks for tossing that extra note in there Lew.

Here's my 3 cents (inflation don't ya know)...

I started with Logos Now... when the switch was made to Faithlife Connect I kept my subscription mostly because I did not want to loose the lower price. (I have a subscription to Essentials - No library).

I do not consider the Classic eBooks as free but as paid for with my subscription price. So, 3 books a month for 12 months... 36 books paid for in advance. EVERYTHING ELSE is quite simply bonus (gravy).

2 Mobile Ed courses per year. With that I can try out ones that I might really want to keep but not have to fork out the money 1st, and then have to rush through the course in 30 days in case I would want to return it. Instead I have 180 days to try it out! If I really like the course and want to keep it, I just wait for the next $99 flash sale and pick it up then.

If it is a course I think is iffy, I try it out and since I did not have to pay for it (I paid for the books, remember) I am not really out anything.

Next bonus is the 2% credit based on my yearly purchase. I tend to spend tooo much on Logos resources so the 2% has been paying the cost of the subscription for me.

And the biggest plus for me is when the next Logos version is released (assuming I still subscribe) I get an extra discount off the base package I decide to pick up.

I also don't like to "rent" my software. If, however, I decide to forgo purchasing the new features set, with my subscription I still have access to those features. (At my reduced subscription fee.)

Now, if I had to pay for the subscription at the current (higher) price I just might feel differently about it all.

To reiterate, consider the subscription fee to be paying for 36 books in advance and every thing else extra bonus stuff tossed in to sweeten the deal.

A little more that 3 cents, ok, maybe 5 cents. [:P]

Roy, with the inflation rates tearing the shingles right off the roof, I would suggest your thoughts to be upwards from 5 cents to 25 cents plus the taxes! It would seem at this point, I will be staying with FCE. I do not do the courses at all but the other niceties do tend to have their positive effects. Thank you so much for your thoughts.

for my situation (grandfathered pricing) it is very simple. 2 yrs FCE is lower cost than the Full Feature Upgrade.

2%, M.Ed courses, FLEB freebies, FaithlifeTV are all gravy.

Making Disciples! Logos Ecosystem = LogosMax on Microsoft Surface Pro 7 (Win11), Android app on tablet, FSB on iPhone & iPad mini, Proclaim (Proclaim Remote on Fire Tablet).

    Any advice?

Another option for consideration is Verbum Now.

Thanks but I think I'll pass on that one. When I looked at buying Logos 9, my heart skipped at least one beat so to prevent further damage, I'll no doubt remain where I am.
