reading plans for non-Bible books

I'm trying to figure out if I can generate a reading plan for Calvin's Institutes that is split by sections rather than page number. Does anyone know if this is possible? There are section headers whose references you can technically copy into a custom reading plan, but I don't think that's a scalable activity.

Hi Daniel, welcome to the forum.

The video at the start of https://support.logos.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016525132-Reading-Plans gives example of how to create a plan from any book automatically by the chapter division in the table of contents.

You can also make a plan from the 3dot menu in a resource.

These divisions in Institutes might be a bit too large a read for one session, but you could perhaps change the time to every week or something.

Thanks for responding and the welcome. I neglected to mention that I found the chapter division already. Your suggestion could work, though I must confess that I prefer the micromanagement of daily readings.

The only way you can do it otherwise is with a Custom Plan.

Highlighting then dragging the section headers to the custom plan 'Drop a shortcut here' area, followed by 'Add Session' does speed things up, or scrolling and choosing 'Choose an open resource' , but there are just so many sections it will not be a quick job unfortunately.

For a normal reading plan, it is limited to 1500 sessions, I do not know if this applies to Custom Plans, or if Institutes has more than 1500 sections, which it might if each chapter averages 20 sections, so to be safe, I would create a separate plan for each book.

You could then use each of these plans and try to 'Add' them all into another Custom Plan. In fact my normal advice with Custom Plans it to never use them once created, as if you accidentally "Adjust Plan from Here" or similar, it might mean you have to recreate. I will always create a copy and 'Add' the original.
