The method is the same as the tutorial, but you are using your own calendar devotional instead of the one in the tutorial.

Open your devotional. It should open to today's date.
Open notes tool
In the notes tool click the down arrow beside new note and select new note on December 6 (or whatever date you do this).
You will see the anchor in this new note will be the date.
You can create a notebook to keep your notes in one place if you like that. You can assign the notebook after you have created your note or you can create your notebook before creating your note.
