Guide Sections Give Different Results (???)

I'm curious about this difference I see in a custom guide.  I have the sections 'Apparatuses' and 'Textual Variants'. The 'TV' section has a subsection called 'Apparatuses.' The results (at Jn 1.1 in this example) for the App section and the App subsection are different. Specifically, the App subsection in the TV section does not include as much material, and the one common resources cites differently.

It looks to me like the Apparatuses section is not properly filtering out books that don't cover the specific reference (John 1:1), although they do have a milestone for the containing chapter (John 1).

I'll write up a bug report for this. I believe they should match.

The two sections have different looking links, because the display for the Apparatuses section was recently rewritten to use a newer format. The Textual Variants section might get updated at some point, but I don't know when this might happen.

I've learned that the preferred section to use is the Textual Variants section. That section replaced the Apparatuses section in the prebuilt guides, but the Apparatuses section was left around to avoid breaking any custom guides that people might have.

I suspect that the Apparatuses section will not see any future changes to the way it generates its results. The UI was only changed more recently, because the UI is shared with the Commentaries section.

    Very helpful, Andrew.

My purpose was to be able to delete one of the two, and this lets me know which one I'll be able to remove.

For now, I may leave both until I see more consistent results between them...if the TV section was the one with more links, it would be a no-brainer, but since the APP section has more data, I'll leave it for now.

    Thanks again for the help.

Hovering over the extra links in Apparatuses should help you determine their value, but I suspect you will find the extra links are not useful to you.
