Questions Regarding Sync'd Notes and Highlights - Logos 9 Desktop

I haven't been able to find answers in the documenation, so I apologize up-front if these have already been answered, and I appreciate your patience.

  1. I can see my notes, highlights, and prayer lists sync'd in the web app; clearly, these are being stored on Faithlife servers.  Are these files encrypted at rest?  Can Faithlife employees and contractors see my notes?
  2. Outside of setting an outbound IP block at my router, is it possible to prevent Logos from sync'ing my notes and highlights?
  3. If my only option is to block the outbound connection, what hostnames / IP addresses and ports would I need to block?  (Yes, I'm hoping that this is easily provided by somebody rather than having to analyze my network activity.)

For context, I am particularly concerned about my prayer lists being sync'd to the cloud.  Some of the people in my life would be horrified if the details of their problems were generally available to strangers - and in at least one case, a life could be ruined.  I need to be able to prevent the sync, or to be absolutely assured that the data is inaccessible to 3rd parties at the Faithlife end, or to be exceptionally vague in my prayer lists, or to not use the tool at all, which would make me sad.

    Patient, moving arm: "Doc, it hurts when I do this."

    Doctor: "Then don't do that."

    Silly illustration, but the point is simple, if not profound...don't put private information into your software, or even your computer. I've never loaded a single prayer request into Logos (or typed one anywhere else in my computer, for that matter).  If it's digital, it is accessible to folks you may not want accessing it...period. Even with all kinds of things blocked, if the LAN cable is plugged it (or the wi-fi turned on), someone can see everything you do on your computer. And if you believe the CTs, it is all stored on servers somewhere in remote China. :-P

    And I think I actually found the answer!  Under preferences, there's an option to toggle Internet usage.

    So this is a mixed bag.  Turning off Internet usage keeps it from sync'ing - but it also keeps it from downloading purchased content and content / binary updates.

    It is my understanding that in some countries having this information in the cloud is at least skirting on the edge of what is legal. Hence, the Faithlife advice, when in doubt on presonal matters don't enter it into Logos. Some people take the approach of omitting actual names but leaving the petition.

    "or to not use the tool at all, which would make me sad . Yeah, that seems to be the path I'm on." They demanded user data in their initial design. Ironic for (1) religious and (2) international. Larger religious suppliers (eg Apple) give you options for privacy. Ironically.
