Jesus and John Wayne: How White Evangelicals Corrupted a Faith and Fractured a Nation by Kristin Kobes Du Mez as an e-book.While this book will offend a group of users, as a best seller, it is a book that it is important to know - either to defend against or to agree with or something in the middle.
Vote at Jesus and John Wayne - as an ebook | Faithlife
definitely.
This is the sort of book that only really works on FL products if it is available immediately it comes out. As it was a much-talked-about book and I was being asked questions about it, I bought it on Kindle some months ago as it wasn’t available on FL ebooks. Since it doesn’t link much to other books or Scripture i wasn’t any worse off having it in Kindle than in Logos. Having said that, someone at FL really needs to be monitoring the best-seller lists to make sure these books become available very quickly. They lose a lot of sales from those of us who always search on FL ebooks first.
I agree. I just yesterday noticed my Kindle library was passing the 1k mark. My last 3 religious books were Kindles, from current discussions.
MJ, stop promoting bigotry on this forum.
I'm really at a loss as to why you, if you are a Christian, think it's necessary for FL to waste developing time importing racist books by pagans.
Now, Chris ... you're letting your woke-iness get the better of you. The best predictor of a church's members is hair-color .... not theology.

I seem to remember you posting promising that you would behave better on the forums. If you don't want the book available in Logos, just don't vote for it.

Agreed.
I must confess, I was intrigued and a little impatient, so I checked it out from my local library. [:)] Thanks for the suggestion, MJ.
Excuse me, I am noted for being the anti-bigotry policewoman. There is a huge gap between criticism and bigotry, the first of which is that the critic has acquianted themselves with multiple sides of an issue. Those who are afraid to acquaint themselves with multiple sides reveal their lack of confidence in their position.
importing racist books by pagans.
If you have read the book, you know that the author is in the Reformed Christian tradition - by no definition is that "pagan". Her definition of the bounds of her study are not racist although the resulting group is overwhelmingly white - and she provides an explanation of why that is true. Please read the book then describe it accurately before objecting to my requesting it. Thanks to your objection, I did remember to recommend it to my daughter-in-law, a Lutheran pastor in Texas.
I removed the text because it serves no purpose. I'm not accomplishing anything.
NOTE: This is the relevant portion of my response to the message which Chris had the good sense to remove. However, I had already sent an abuse report.
Her being a pastor tells me she's already a heretic
This is inappropriate on the forums. I have reported this post as abuse to Faithlife because of this statement. Whether or not any action is appropriate, I am glad to say, is FL's problem not mine.
I agree. I also bought it when it came out because of its timely relevance. Waiting 6 months or a year for it to come out as a FL ebook is a non-starter for me. I'd rather have bought it from FL, but i needed to have it because of its relevance.

I acknowledge fault. I'm sorry for insulting your relative. I shouldn't have done that.
MJ... I have come to the conclusion... that FL let's some people do whatever they want. I reported Chris because of his implication of vulgarity... Nothing!
I don't appreciate Chris and his demonic way of twisting things around and insulting others. I don't appreciate his implication of vulgarity.
Thanks for reporting him. I believe his heart is wrong... therefore what come out of his mouth (typed) is not good.
Enough said.
