All of the sudden my sermon builder document will not stay at the place I am working. It keeps jumping back to the top. Why? I tried quitting Logos and restarting. Did not help.

    Hi Don

Which version of Logos are you running? This was a problem some versions back

And, if you are running the current version, check your Program and Content Scaling settings. If not 100%, try changing them to that and see if that stops the problem occurring

I am having the same issue. I will check to see if the scaling changes it.

Nope, it is still an issue. I am running Logos Bible Software 9.7 SR-1 (9.7.0.0025). I have tried rescaling the program text to 100% but it does not seem to help. Please let me know when there is a patch.

If it helps, the screen jumps to the top every 60 sec exactly. It also occurs every time I hit the "sync" arrows at the top.....If I was a betting man I would say that it is a syncing issue.

Having similar issues in 9.8.0.0008 on Windows 10. When using the up or down keys, and sometimes randomly when I try to delete or edit a small portion. It jumps all over the place. For instance, if I am at the bottom of the document, and use the UP key, it will go up about 2/3 of the way, and then jump back down to near the bottom. If I use the scroll bar I'm OK. But not the up or down keys.

Same problem here. I can't figure out why it does it.

Also: I love that they put a new search function in Sermon Builder, but when I am searching for something and there is only one instance of that phrase, it does not go to it. I have to scroll to find the highlight. The arrows only work if there is more than one find of the word or phrase.

    Jerry,

What version of Logos are you running and what type of computer are you on?  Also, as for the "Find" feature not working well if there's only one result, that is a task our developers will be tackling very soon.

    Thanks.

    Hi Reid,

Regarding the arrow keys, I wanted to ask if this was the behavior you're seeing:

    1. Place your cursor near the bottom of the screen
    2. Use the down arrow key a couple times to scroll further
    3. The cursor on the correct line, but the line was scrolled toward the middle of the screen.

Is that what you're describing, or something else?

    Hi David

Just to say I saw this behaviour earlier today - running Logos 9.8 on Windows 10

I had my cursor near the bottom of a sermon document (content in the document was roughly 20 minutes long) and, to the best of my knowledge, I wasn’t touching the mouse or the keyboard when it suddenly repositioned itself at the top of the sermon document

    Hi Graham / all,

The only "known" scenario where the Sermon Builder panel jumps to the top currently (albeit not always ideal), would be if any part of the sermon or its metadata was modified outside the panel. For example, if you changed its metadata in Sermon Manager, or if a background sync operation synced down edits you had made on another device.

    Questions

    1. Does that scenario apply to you? That is, did you edit the sermon or its metadata outside that specific Sermon Builder panel?

    2. Were you interacting with Logos at the time? Did you notice if a sync was happening? We often perform a background sync if you switch to another program on your computer, then switch back to Logos.

    3. Was the app already fully synced before it occurred?

    4. Is this a new issue since 9.7 SR-1? Or has it been happening before that?

    Hi David

    Questions

I'll answer the best I can but, because I wasn't excepting this to happen, I wasn't paying much attention!

    1. Does that scenario apply to you? That is, did you edit the sermon or its metadata outside that specific Sermon Builder panel?

    No

    2. Were you interacting with Logos at the time? Did you notice if a sync was happening? We often perform a background sync if you switch to another program on your computer, then switch back to Logos.

To the best of my memory I wasn't doing anything on the computer at that moment - I was reflecting and thinking. I didn't notice if a sync was happening,

    3. Was the app already fully synced before it occurred?

It would have been close to it if not fully - all I had been doing was typing into the sermon document

    4. Is this a new issue since 9.7 SR-1? Or has it been happening before that?

Personally, I've only seen it the once. There was a different problem some releases ago but I believe that was fixed.

Hi, all... I'm on Logos 9.8.0.0010 (SR-2), and I believe I'm able to duplicate the strange behavior consistently.  If I'm scrolling in my Sermon Builder document using the arrow keys, and I scroll THROUGH a Scripture reference, the arrow press to leave the Scripture reference jumps me to the LAST reference in my Sermon Builder document, acting as if I was scrolling through that reference, no matter where in my document I was originally.

For a clearer explanation, it works like this:

    • Using mouse, put cursor on text line below Scripture reference.
    • Press up arrow key. Nothing seems to happen visually, other than cursor disappears.
    • Press up arrow key one more time.  Jumps to last Scripture reference in the document.

The down key does the same thing.  I've tested this by putting an additional reference as the very last thing in my document, and it jumps to the end every time.  I also discovered that when I press the arrow key the first time, and nothing seems to happen, it is selecting the last Scripture passage in the document.  I discovered this by scrolling down to the end of the document after the first "up" press noted above.  Definitely a bug to get fixed.  Annoying for sure, especially when you're editing instead of writing.

Does it work the same way for you all?

One additional wrinkle as I took a video to send to Support:

All of the arrow keys act the same way (including right/left).  Also, if you select a Scripture reference using the mouse, you cannot use an arrow key to leave the reference: it just scrolls the window instead (right/left don't do anything in that case because of word wrap).

So it's an issue with how Sermon builder deals with Scripture references.  I'm guessing it showed up when they added the "Insert Inline/Insert block" functionality, which confuses me more than helps: I nearly always do a block entry.

    Bill,

Thank you for the report.  This was actually a bug that our development team addressed last week.  We have a fix in place that will be placed into the 9.10 Beta here soon.  I'm sorry for the current inconvenience but we look forward to getting this resolution out shortly.

Are you running the beta version? They have stated that the fix is in the current beta which is the beginning of a 6 week cycle which ends with its release.

I am still having this problem today on desktop app (MacBook Pro)

    Logos Bible Software 9.9 - 9.9.0.0011

Does the beta version download automatically when available?

Does the beta version download automatically when available?

The beta version should never be your primary installation as it is a version for testing and may fail. When it goes live (gold) then it will automatically update; this occurs on a six week cycle.

Same problem here. I don't have to touch anything and it goes back to the top of the sermon. I am running Logos Bible Software 9.10 9.10.0.0017.

It acts like it is jumping back when it autosaves/syncs up.  I turned off my internet connection so it could not sync, and it did not jump back to the beginning. As soon as I turned my internet connection back up, it synced and jumped back to the beginning.

    Thanks.

Our development team has made some great strides in finding errors that resulted in Sermon Builder jumping back up to the top.  We are finalizing some things with a release for this coming very soon.  Please continue to provide feedback regarding this as we want to make sure the experience improves.
