Identification of Deity of Christ in John's Gospel
How can I identify key verses in John dealing with the deity of Christ in Logos? After that I want to deeply explore their exegesis in scholarly commentaries and journal articles.

- Run a theological guide on "God the son".
- Identify the references from John
- Read the commentaries and journal articles relevant to those references
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

How do I do the theological guide? It does not come up on my Logos?
- Identify the references from John

You need to learn basic research skills - within and without Logos. Once you know your resources well, you will be able to select a resource that is a reliable starting point for particular topics. Until then it is search all.

Perhaps this is a reference to the Theological Topic Study that is found in the Guides menu. Did you look in that menu?

A Search is more complex but it could prove more fruitful:
The Search phrase is fairly evident, but you have to come up with it. "BEFORE <John>" means that it should occur before references to the gospel of John. A more complex Search can be attempted if this does not give enough results.

The theological guide offers the following Johnine references:
- John 1:1-18
- John 1:49
- John 5:18-25
- John 11:27
- 1 John 1:1-3
- 1 John 4:9
as a pont of comparison to the Search - in general, a thorough researcher would do both.
Applying Dave's approach to theology books is also fruitful:

Applying Dave's approach to theology books is also fruitful:
The ultimate, more selective Search is:
([field heading, largetext]"god the son", "son of god") BEFORE <John>
---> it looks for articles (rather than phrases in "All text") that contain references to the gospel.
