Do I need to purchase additional software or is there a download for the mac that I can then access my account and download the books and bibles I have?

I did the same thing and would recommend staying clear of the Mac software for the moment and running the Windows version under Parallels or something similar (I use Parallels 5). The Mac software isn't really ready enough yet and you'll be happier using the Windows version.
Welcome to the forum and to the Mac. Joe has given you some excellent advice. I wanted to comment on the other remark
Although L-4 Mac is still in the Alpha stage, several users on this forum are using it effectively for Bible study and sermon preparation. I am personally addicted to some of the features being introduced in the Windows version, so I use it under Parallels 5. The really good news is that everything you do in L-4 Windows will synchronize with your Mac version when the features are implemented.
The Mac Development Team is hard at work and making super progress.
I agree, the Mac version is coming on leaps and bounds. But it is still alpha, with frequent updates that need redownloading/indexing and not with the nice bells and whistles of the PC version. If one is coming from a PC, it seemed more logical to keep use the more stable PC version rather than a pre-release Mac version.I've used the Mac version and at times it does suit better but for day to day use, I use the PC version as I got fed up with alpha idiosyncracies. That said, running under Parallels is not without its problems. Initial startup of the program takes a few minutes (though I've now discovered that doing away with the Homescreen significantly improves this). Strange how I can then quit the program and then relaunch it later and it boots up in no time flat. Also, running Parallels on the Mac makes the use of Windows apps so easy and they fit into the Mac desktop very well, such that you don't really know it's Windows. A really useful app.
Agreed, if you are a power user, definitely run VMware Fusion or Parallels so that you can run L4 Windows. It is also important to note that you might be mildly surprised how much Mac Alpha meets your needs.
I have over 15 friends now that I have switched from being long term users of Windows to Macs. None of them have regretted the decision. I can vouch for it because I made the switch 18 months ago and my only regret was that I hadn't made the switch sooner!

OK, in fairness, I've revisited the Mac Alpha and am quite impressed with how far it has come. Downside is after goodness knows how long downloading/indexing/rebuilding/whatever there is a new update due out tomorrow and I'll have to go over the whole thing again. Oh, and the space used up with running two versions/libraries. Still, launching under OSX is a lot easier and quicker than going through Parallels. I think it was under a minute as against 5+ going through the Parallels route.

It takes only minutes to get this done.
I use both PC and Mac (27"). The Mac UI is fantastic. I'm expecting A18 to be even better. Beta should be coming along fairly soon. Bottom line. The Mac is very useable at this time.
