Date inaccurate on web app, but accurate on desktop?
Hello,
Where I am (East Coast, USA) it's Jan 1, Saturday evening.
In the 1st snapshot below, which is my desktop app, this is being displayed accurately, listing "Jan 1" on two devotional cards and listing Sunday as tomorrow on my sermon builder card for tomorrow's lesson.
In the 2nd snapshot, which is my web app homepage, both devotional cards list "Jan 2" instead of "Jan 1". But, the sermon card is still accurate (it lists the lesson I'll be teaching tomorrow, which will be Sunday).
It feels like my logos web page thinks I'm in Europe, but I've double checked my web browser's time and date (Chrome, it's accurate), as well as my computer settings. I've also synced both apps (web and desktop), shut both apps down, and restarted. I'm not sure what else to check?
Thank you for any ideas in advance!! - Maria

I'm sorry...my snapshots didn't post, and won't post; I'm not sure why.

Just checked the web app myself. This appears to be a BUG / design flaw. The web app is apparently ignoring all possible time zone indicators in favour of GMT.

Seems to be working fine here.
Here is Corby Northamptonshire. ;-)

This problem is holding consistent through today (Jan 2) - again, the my web app is hours ahead, while my desktop app is accurate.
SineNomine, thanks for your thoughts. That sounds logical to me.
Mike, I couldn't help but go look up Corby Northamptonshire after your comment! [:D]

This issue is still continuing.
I wonder if anyone else is having this problem?
Or, where I go on the Logos site to report it?

As this isn't attracting a lot of 'me too' responses I would give customer support a ring.

Maria, I'll take a look and see if I can reproduce the issue and report back.

But also no "not me" responses.
The bug continues on both the Logos and Verbum web apps.

Ah huh, those 'me too' posts help establish whether a bug is individual system, individual platform, or, in this case, individual browser based.

The non-existent "not me" responses are still more helpful. Does anyone not have this problem?

I am able to reproduce the inaccurate dates on the Daily Devotional and Lectionary cards by doing the following.
- Add a Daily Devotional or Lectionary card to the homepage on either app.logos.com or the Desktop app.
- Open a browser (I tried both Safari & Chrome) on a computer with a system clock set to the next day. I did this by setting the time-zone to JST.
- Open app.logos.com
- Launch the Homepage. The card's data will update
- Open a browser (I tried both Safari & Chrome) on a computer with a system clock set to the previous day. I did this by setting the time-zone to both EST & PST. At this point the date on the card will still reflect the previous computers date. When adding a new card originally the date is correct but after refreshing it changes to the next day.
This doesn't appear to affect other card types such as Reading Plans, and Prayer Lists. I was unable to reproduce without switching between time-zones. Adding a card while running with a time-zone of EST behaves as expected. As you noted the desktop app continues to behave as expected.
Unfortunately I was not able to reproduce the exact scenario reported. Did you happen to log into the app from a different time-zone? Let me know it will help us narrow down the issue. I'll go ahead and write up a case for the issue regardless.

Did you try using a device running Windows?

Hello Kamira,
Thank you so much for spending time on this.
I haven't been in a different time zone since 9 months ago, and even then, it was a trip to the west (Nebraska) from the east coast, a time difference in the wrong direction (if I'm grasping this all correctly!). And, I'm 99.9% sure I just opened these daily devotional cards a few weeks ago. (Ironically for the specific purpose of telling me today's date, since I can't see the date when I'm in Logos on my laptop.)
I am working on a windows laptop, if that helps. (Using chrome.)
Thank you!
Maria

Unfortunately, wherever I try to post a response, it says my responses need to be moderated, and I'll receive an email when my post is approved. But, it's been several days, and my posts haven't been allowed...I'm not sure what's going on...

Hi Maria,
We are getting a case written up. I was able to reproduce this bug on my end. It was slightly different in that when I used the devotional Morning & Evening it displayed the correct date, but the session was for the Morning when it should have been Evening. I suspect this was because it was later in the day when I tried to reproduce it. We'll update this thread when we are able to fix it.
Blessings,
Philana
