I understand you can hyperlink from Microsoft Word to a specific location in Logos.  I am trying to figure out how to hyperlink from Logos to a specific location in Microsoft Word.  All of my study notes are in MS Word and I don't want to have to rewrite or cut and paste to notes inside logos when the thought pattern and format is already established in MS Word.  If anyone can explain how I can setup this hyperlink in logos, it sure would be appreciated.

    Welcome to the forums! [:)]

I have no idea if this is a possibility. However: Creating a "personal" book is very easy... and you use Microsoft Word (.docx) files to do so. That would be more useful than simply a link to a Word Document.

Thank you so much for the link to "Personal Books".  This information is helpful but does not address Hyperlink from Logos to a MS Word document which is what I needed.

It's been a while since I've done this but as far as Logos is concerned a hyperlink URL is a hyperlink URL so yes, an MSWord  document is an allowed target. You likely need to add anchors in the word document for the locations within the document that you wish to use as targets. I've only done this with full URL's.

Except that it is not possible. I've tried from the Notes tool since Logos 9 was released

I may be off based here.... but...  I have many links from Logos to a Word document. I do this in "Tools -->Favorites"...

Then when I want that Word document...  I click "Tools" then "Favorites" find it in the list... and click it.  It works.

The way to add a word document to Favorites is to Open Favorites "Tools -->Favorites"  then open File Exporer on your pc.... find the document you want to add... then drag it to a place in "Favorites".  Works like a charm.

You can also put in "Folders" in "Favorites" whereby you put documents in that pertain to that folder.

    Sorry if I misunderstood....

P.S. Now.... to go to a specific place within a Word document is something I don't think can be done because Word doesn't allow to have a hyperlink to a place within the document. Maybe someone can tell us otherwise....but I have tried and tried....and cannot find it. I have Word documents that I would like to have hyperlinks to other Word documents....but have not found a way to do that.  It would be helpful to me.

Yes. Thank you. I had been trying to create a hyperlink in Notes, but the OP has not stated where in Logos he wants to link to his external notes.

Word can link to a place within the current document, otherwise it will link to external documents/files when the Notes tool fails e.g.

file:///C:\Users\Dav\Documents\links.docx   (no link to a bookmark within)

Word doesn't allow to have a hyperlink to a place within the document.

You are unable to get an anchor defined within the document or unable to specify that anchor in the link?

You are unable to get an anchor defined within the document

Word has an option for hyperlinks to headings or bookmarks defined within the current document, else it only provides a file-level hyperlink to an external document (docx or other format). Word supports Logos links like ref.ly and direct logosref, logosres, logos4.

My MSWord help file gives specific directions for linking to a specific spot in an external document. But I was thinking of a link from a Logos note into an external document with a specific location.

Ok.... say I have a Word .docx file.... that has 20 chapters in it and I want to have a link to chapter 8 and then be able to open that .docx file to chapter 8.  In Logos resources... I use the L4 link for that.  But I don't see any way to create the link in Word such that Logos can open the file to chapter 8.

But... I have been wrong 1 or  2 times in my life ... [8-|]

I'm very busy tonight - I'm not taking the time to capture screen shots showing how it works. Please use the Word Help feature on "Create a hyperlink to a location in another document" ... you are probably missing the click on Bookmark step.

No. Any link address I insert is 'converted' into a format that does not work.

That's an issue that Bradley needs to weigh in on.

after you click ctrl-k in word use logosres:nasb95;ref=BibleNASB95.Jn6.64

That will take you to John 6:64 in the NASB 95 version.

You put that in the address field at the bottom.

On a Mac it may be possible to link from Word to Logos using Hookmark.
