Losing downloaded books?!

I'll lose all my downloaded books when I sign out which I kind of understand, but it is frustrating that I lose them too when the app thinks that I have signed out when I actually haven't!  This happened to me time and again when there was ?a glitch going in and out of offline mode (mainly due to poor connection).

When a user is thought to be "signed out" the app, it is most likely one of the following is happening:  (1) there was a problem connection, (2) it was an unintentional mistake made by the user, or (3) the user needed to do so (e.g. changing password), and in any of these three cases the user would sign right back in again, but he has lost all the the books that he has downloaded.  Sad

I wonder if it is possible not to remove the downloaded books immediately when a user is thought to have signed out, but rather removing them when the user successfully signs in to another account?  This would avoid disaster in the above situations, while avoiding the scenario that a user gets more books than he is entitled to by signing in and out of different accounts - if that was the intention.

Of course I have no objections if I don't lose downloaded books at all at sign out, which seems to be how other apps are behaving.  Wink

Not sure if it is possible, but I wish they would stay on the device and be available only when signed it. So maybe Logos would block access or not even show them when signed out, but when signed it they are available again without deleting them.

This is an issue though. I have lost my downloaded books twice now for this reason. One accidentally signed out - my fault. Second was I got logged out somehow.

That would be great, this solves the problem of users losing their books when they're changing passwords.

Version 1.4.1 better handles connection errors when verifying a signed-in user. This version also makes it harder to accidentally sign out.

I'm using 1.4.1 and had the sign-in screen today when trying to load with a bad connection. Thankfully I know better than to tap 'skip', but it shows the problem does still exist.

This happened to me twice in the past 24 hours.  Poof, for some reason the program logged me out.  I log back in and all the books I spent hours downloading (slow internet) are gone.

This never happened to me before uploading to 1.4.1, so the idea that it is getting better seems to be untrue, at least in my case to this point.

This has become quite frustrating.  Is there a way to avoid it deleting all of my downloaded books if for some reason the program demands that I sign in?

Yes, don't sign in! Just exit and try loading Logos again. Sooner or later it will let you in without logging in, and all your offline books will be intact.

Last time it happened (before 1.4.1) I was in the subway with poor reception and the app logged me out.  Without doing anything (or signing in) I exited and restarted the app and the downloaded books were lost.  So the trick didn't always work.  [:(]  So far I haven't been inadvertently logged out since 1.4.1, even in places of poor connectivity, so Dave's fix has been working (at least in some scenarios).  [;)]

Just as an FYI, this is a different problem than I reported, my offline books were unavailable on my iPad and I was still logged in, this was the case even though I exited the app several times and restarted it.
