How does John's Gospel use the Greek word semeîon and why? What are some good sources on this? John never uses the word "miracle," dunamin, "a power, a demonstration of the miraculous power of God," or tera, "a wonder of the Almighty"; he never uses the word "miracle." He uses the word semeion, "sign." Why is this and how can I find sources?

I would start by looking at why the first portion of the Gospel of John is known as "The Book of Signs" - search for that phrase across your entire library.

An FYI KS4J - in my library, "the book of signs" is more common in dictionaries than within milestones.
