US Calendars not showing up right in Sermon Manager

Hi - I've been using the sermon manager for the past year. I love it and have found the US Holidays calendar to be helpful in planning. It helps to know if a certain text in my exposition is going to show up when a lot of people will be away on vacation - July 4th for example. However, you can see in my screenshot below that the Holidays just stopped showing up after last Halloween. Any ideas why this might be happening?

    Brian,

The reason this is happening is because on the other entries you have with Father's Day, Independence Day and Halloween, the "Date" column just to the left of the "Holidays" one perfectly lands on that holiday.  The "Holidays" column is triggered by the "Date" column rather than the "Week" column currently.

I've tested this on my Sermon Manager as well as had a similar result.  I tried it by using a sermon for the week of February 13-19, 2022.  I placed a sermon with a date of Feb. 13 and then although the week range was still the 13th-19th, nothing appeared in the holidays area.  However, after I edited that sermon date from the 13th to 14th, the Valentine's Day entry in the holidays column then appeared.

This is something we can discuss more internally about having the holiday be triggered by the "Week" column instead as I could see where that would be helpful with sermon planning.  Thank you for writing in about this.

Right. So I found a screenshot from last fall where it seems like the holidays were triggered by the week as opposed to the date and you can clearly see the holidays even though the sermon didn't fall on the specific date of the holiday (it even shows Black Friday). Was something updated or changed?

Perhaps there was a temporary issue with this awhile back, but on my program, this is now working better from the last time I tested this at the end of January.  Here's a screenshot from my program today after I restarted it.

Let me know if yours is working better yet or not.  If not, it may be coming shortly in an update as I'm running a beta version currently.

Oh wow. Mine must be messed up somehow. I ran the update command this afternoon just to make sure I was running the latest official release and I am (9.11.0.0022), but it's still the same. The only thing I can think of is that I noticed the difference after I shifted a group of about 12 sermons forward a week earlier this year, but that shouldn't have caused this, right?

    And here's the next 6 months --

Thanks for this extra info.  It seems there it a bit of an issue currently with the ways the calendars and holidays appear intermittently.  I am making notes of this for a development case in order to try to permanently resolve this issue.

    A quick note on this...

When going into the code and attempting to fix this issue, we found that if you are sorting your Sermon Manager view by something other than the "Week" view, then the holidays will only appear if it falls on the exact day.  However, if you're sorted on "Week" view, then the holidays will appear as long as it falls within the week.

I am doing some quick checks internally with the team to see if there's a specific reason this behavior needs to continue.  However, I am advocating that we look at allowing all holidays within a week to show despite how Sermon Manager is sorted.

I'll get back to you soon on this to clarify the direction forward, but I wanted to you to know that we are actively working on it and also to let you know a way to still see all holidays for now by flipping the sorting over to be arranged by "Week."

Thanks for your patience and help with this process.

Hi Austin - thanks for pursuing this. I clicked on the "week" column and the dates came back. I feel so dumb. Somewhere along the way I must have clicked another column to sort and never switched back to "week." Now everything is back to the way it was (my screenshot below) praise the Lord. The program functions as intended - this is just a straight case of user error! I guess my only thought would be to make the column heading clicked a highlighted color, or something in addition to the pyramid arrow that signifies ascending or descending order?? But, it's clearly a non-issue. I just missed the obvious. I appreciate you guys following through on this. God bless!

Good to hear but we will still absolutely continue discussing ways to improve this to avoid this from happening going forward.  I, myself, saw the same behavior and was too confused so there are likely many others who have or will experience this.  Therefore, we will continue down the path of improving this area.

    Blessings.
