Sermon Builder Bugs and Requests

I have a large library but just recently purchased the Preachers Suite Premium to get some of the advanced tools in the Sermon Builder that are also found in Logos 9 base packages, such as the ability to upload my own graphics as slides and hopefully to improve the slide’s overall performance. I have these suggestions to get the Sermon Builder when using slides to work better for pastors that utilize the feature. I would like to use the Sermon Builder feature so I can do my word processing of sermon notes inside of Logos without switching screens, but due to the limitations, it’s a headache trying to use it. Here are the issues I’m having and a few suggestions to improve it.
When adding text to the slides, it lags really bad when doing something simple such as typing or moving the text box. This is something I would think should work extremely smooth like using text in every other app does. If it’s because it’s connecting to the internet to use this feature, I would recommend the option to be able to download image sources and prevent this lag. My internet speed averages around 30 MBPS, so even then I would think it shouldn’t lag.
When using my own graphic as a background slide, it only allows body text to be layered on top. No header or sub-header text is permitted. Could we get this changed to allow more flexibility with text?
Sometimes when editing a slide the Update Sermon in the top left disappears and then I’m not sure how to update the sermon. I’m not sure yet what’s triggering this as it doesn’t happen every time.
When I create a second slide via typing in more text in my sermon notes, the new slide comes out black instead of repeating the image I have. This may be by design, however, when I tell the first slide I created to apply styles to all other slides, it doesn’t work. It actually does the opposite and makes all my slides go black instead of copying my designed one. When using Logos pre-made slide backgrounds, it appears to work just fine, just not with my customized ones.
When I set the slide size to be 1920 x 1080, I expect each following slide to also be of that size. Instead, every new slide I create ends up defaulting back to 1024 x 576. I spoke with Logos customer service and she tried it on a PC and it did the same thing. So it appears to be a bug in both systems. It would also be nice to be able to set in up in settings to always default to a particular size desired.
It would also be nice if a future version of Logos gave the option for slides to be created in 4K.
It would be nice to be able to add an additional graphic over top of a preexisting or new slide that I created. I understand that Logos perhaps doesn’t want to build it’s complete own slide presentation, but with utilizing slides in the Sermon Builder, it is pretty needful so that the headlines and other text that I want to be a slide, quickly formats it to do so, instead of having to do a Keynote or Powerpoint slide presentation separately after the matter.
It would be a nice feature if you could set a few different master slides and then apply those to specific slides but not all of them.

Jason,
I really appreciate the detailed post. This comes at a great time too as within our development team, we have recently been discussing a roadmap of improvements for the Media tool. Many of your thoughts here are already on our radar but there are a couple new suggestions as well.
We look forward to improving this feature to help our users have a better overall experience.
Thank you.

Great post. I'd add 2 additional itmes:
- Appears to be a bug that items numbered in the sermon editor don't carry that number when slides are created...all items are numbered 1.
- Sermon editor highlights misspelled words but doesn't always offer any correct spelling? The only option I get many times when I right click on the red underlined word is to "add word to dictionary." Maybe it's just a bug or the program needing to catch up.
Thanks.

Good news - - this fix is coming very shortly. We resolved this very recently and will come out with Logos version number 9.12.
Thanks for the other note. I tested several words just now that I intentionally misspelled but was given a suggested replacement above the "Add word to dictionary" option. Do you have a couple exact examples I can test with where you didn't see a suggestion?

I thought I would try Sermon Builder for Sunday School lessons but the inability to use my own background image is a show stopper. I can find user media and select and upate but when I go to apply to all slides they all turn black. It seems like this should be a very fundamental and basic capability of the system.

The is because user media appears as a layer on top of the background. The actual Background is black. This is why I save my custom art work for the Proclaim part of my process.

Thanks David. Not a Proclaim user so back to Word and PowerPoint.

John,
I'm sorry for the current inconvenience regarding using your own slides within Sermon Builder. We are devoting extra employee help to this exact area in the very near future to resolve this as well as several other areas we have identified that could be improved within the Media tool. Thank you for sharing your concerns on it and we look forward to providing you a better experience in this area soon.

I think my issue with spelling corrections may have more to do with the Logos program playing "catch- up" on my computer, If that makes sense. It might happen once when I first open Logos, then it works correctly. Probably more of a processing speed issue.
