Can you position a note icon to the RIGHT of selected text?

If I select text and write a note, the icon appears to the left of the selected text. But I want it to appear to the RIGHT, since that is how notation should work. Right? E.g., footnotes appear after the pertinent text; why would the note icon be different? Anyway, that's what I'd prefer. Does anyone know how I can change the orientation?

I'm with you Travis--first you read the text, THEN you read the note. I hope someone knows a way to do this.

The only work-around I've found is to select the first word or character AFTER the text of interest, then select the add note feature. This will position the note after the text I'm interested in. Not ideal because the note isn't actually attached to the correct text, but it's the best I've come up with so far in regard to positioning the note icon after the text of interest within the resource. I also typically highlight the text of interest, which again visually (for me) connects the note with the highlighted text.

As far as I know, this is not possible. It would be a great suggestion for L10.

A little bit harder to do on mobile but a workable solution till the software gives us a choice. if you want to highlight and create a note icon with workaround you have to create two annotations.

Anchor the note on the period.

And perhaps I misunderstood the steps, but when I tried such a setup and got an ICON to appear after the text of interest, creation of the actual note still left a note ICON in front of the text.

That’s because as Dave said it is not a note icon, it is a highlight icon and so has no impact on positioning of the note icon and it would be expected to see both icons if you combine a note and a highlight.

That is true ... but I keep the tool open to add tags and text to "real" notes so I don't find that a problem. It really depends on how much you care about getting the icon where you want.

That's a good solution. However, I want my note to actually be anchored to the text it references. Hopefully that becomes possible at some point.
