Uploading backgrounds to Sermon Title slides in Sermon Builder
Hello,
I tried to change the background on my Sermon Title slide in the Sermon Builder before exporting it to Proclaim. When I open the slide to edit it, I can add in the subtitle (the title already being filled in) and the biblical reference.
I'm left with this on my screen:
It looks like I'd expect.
I then upload a PNG file to change the background, and I get:
The background is correct. I uploaded a plain yellow slide (I like things to be plain for the sermon titles).
Where did the "Title", "Subheader" and "Reference" boxes go?
I am uploading the background using the "Upload Media" link at the right-hand side of the menu.
Is there another way that I should upload the background, and keep the information boxes present?

Where did the "Title", "Subheader" and "Reference" boxes go?
I found that when I "upload Media" it changes the slide from a "title" slide or "Header" slide to a blank pic of the background. My solution was to create a basic black slide in SERMON BUILDER, then import the background AFTER I export into Proclaim.

We have a fix in place for the bug where if you changed the background of a slide, the text disappeared and only a blank background was shown. This fix is currently going through the beta rounds and appears to be testing very well. If this continues to go well in the testing, it will be released shortly.
I apologize for the current inconvenience but I'm glad we will have a better solution for you regarding this shortly.

Any idea when this fix will be out? or am I able to join the Beta testing? Thank you!

This fix appears to be in the 9.8 release, which is scheduled to launch next week. Have a great upcoming weekend.

I am still having this issue. My Logos version is "Logos Bible Software 9.8 SR-1", "9.8.0.0008".
Did the fix to this issue role out with version 9.8?

Keith,
We're not seeing this issue on our end anymore. Can you provide me with the exact steps you're taking so we can try to reproduce it?
Thanks, but we will definitely keep a close eye on this and continue testing this to see if anything we do can get it to break, but so far, it's been performing very well.

Thanks for the quick reply. Here are my steps:
In Sermon Builder, I right-click on a slide and select "Edit".
In the edit window, it shows a Header/Subheader slide (this currently shows "Fog Cityscape Header Subheader").
I click on "Upload Media" to select a different background image. It is a PNG image.
Once it uploads, it shows the image, but no text is visible. And the left side menus have changed to only show "Format", "Body Text" (which is now blank), and "Tags".

Ahh, okay that's very helpful information. The main bug we fixed was when editing a slide, when clicking the "Find Media" option, when a different background was chosen, the text was often times deleted. What you're describing is a different issue within the "Upload Media" button. Let me go back to the developers and have another conversation around this.
Thanks again for the info and for your patience through this.

The same issue happens with "Find Media" as well.

I’m having the same issue as well

We're digging deeper into this. I'll be back in touch as soon as I have more information.

Keith,
As we continue to investigate this, can you provide me the steps you take to where you have the issue within the "Find Media" button? Also, will you confirm if you're doing this on the desktop or web app? Thanks.

I am using the desktop app.
Steps for "Find Media" are very similar to "Upload Media"...
In Sermon Builder, I click on the header slide and select "Edit".
In the edit window, it shows a Header/Subheader slide.
I click on "Find Media" to select a different background image. It is a PNG image.
Once it uploads, it shows the image, but no text is visible. And the left side menus have changed to only show "Format", "Body Text" (which is now blank), and "Tags".

One addition, after clicking "Find Media", I select "User Media" to get the images I've uploaded previously.

I hope I am not hijacking Keith's issue, but here are my steps
1. Open up Sermon Template/Document for my current series
2. Add a new Main Point to the sermon and assign Heading 1 style.
3. Since the new slide is the wrong background, I click on the thumbnail and press "edit"
[notice the options on the left include Header & Subheader fields]
4. I click on find Media, change option from Logos Media to User Media then select "find media" to "Fulcrum"
5. I'm presented with 5 uploaded media pieces that have been tagged "Fulcrum"
6. I select "Fulcrum Header" and Update Sermon
[option on left changed from Header/subheader to Body Text field
8. I export to Proclaim [and have no text fields to edit!]
9. I go into my Proclaim Backgrounds/Group Upload/Fulcrum and select "Fulcrum of Time Header" to Apply as Smart Media
and I FINALLY can edit a Header/subheader slide with the background I desire.
NOTE: I have learned to SKIP steps 3-8 in The Sermon Document slides and just import the wrong background into Proclaim [this means my sermon document does NOT have the art I used in my sermon, should I want to revisit this sermon] , then use Proclaim to do step #9. This also applies because there is still MUCH ART in Proclaim that is not available in Sermon Document Find Media:Logos Media.

Thank you to everyone who helped provide documentation regarding these issues. It was very helpful for us as a development team to reproduce the issue and determine what is going on.
Essentially what is taking place is that certain slide types are getting swapped over to a content slide and it’s not transferring over the data from the header/subheader slide. We absolutely recognize that both on the desktop app as well as the web app, this is currently not a good user experience and we’re looking at ways to improve this process in the future.
I don't have any immediate fix for this, but it will be continued to be discussed so that we can improve the overall experience with slides. In the meantime, I apologize for the inconvenience.

While you're looking for ways to improve it, could you allow Logos and Proclaim to work from the same pool of slides, backgrounds, templates, etc?

Any update on resolving this issue? I paid for the Logos 9 upgrade in large part because I was assured I could use my own backgrounds in this version.

It still doesn't seem like anyone has replied to this issue. I would greatly appreciate hearing if this issue is fixed. I have version 9.11 SR-1, and it doesn't seem to be resolved in that version.

As an update, there's not a fix yet. However, we recently just allocated some additional employee resources towards improving the Media tool and are already in the process of mapping out the process to fix the most asked about things. Within this will be more flexibility in how using your own slides will work, as well as a much better experience when trying to apply your own background to all slides.
So unfortunately, there's not a resolution to this exact issue yet, but I can assure you that a greater level of attention will be devoted to this area beginning even this month.
