To Kyle -- About Cross Reference Tool

I'm not understanding the criteria by which the Cross Reference Tool works. I'm a thinking that it should scan all my books and then build cross references to the passage I request. But such is not the case. It seems to NOT scan books from WordSearch such as Thompson Chain Reference books... and many others that I've looked at.

Can you enlighten me where I have gone astray? Thanks

Oops, not quite on target -- all resources is the Important Passages tool; Cross-references is limited to cross-reference resources and Bibles. Kyle, the question is why WordSearch resources like the Thompson chain resources are not considered cross-reference resources. Xnman can clarify what I've misrepresented here.

What MJ said is correct. The Cross Refences tool is driven by the resource type "Bible Cross References". This resource type is reserved for resources that are an index that goes through the Bible and provides cross-references for each Bible verse listed in the resource.

I took a look in the Thompson Chain and couldn't find a resource that fit the bill. If you had a particular one in mind I can look closer and see if any changes could be made on our end.

Kyle I agree with you regarding cross references, however, you may want to consider the Topics resource as part of what populates from the Topics guide or section in the PG.

Having used the print version in the NIV for a couple of decades, I found The Thompson Chain has always been an unique phenomena as a digital resource. In my opinion it has only been done well by Kirkbride themselves in their version 4 of their own proprietary release of software. Once they went to version 5 it was no better than how it showed up in WS, useable but not totally efficient.

After I rolled over my original version 4 disk with my office chair and not having made a backup I searched the web unsuccessfully for a replacement. None to be had. Digitally I long ago moved on to the better cross reference resources I found in WS and Logos.
