Question about CD-Rom resource

When I first bought Logos I was using a Windows machine. Well, now I've switched to a Mac and I'm unsure of a few things.

I was about to but the Tyndale OT/NT commentary set on CD-Rom. It's the same one that Logos sells http://www.logos.com/products/details/5310 but from another company, so DLing is out of the question.

My question: Will the CD-Rom work on my Mac?

I bought Grudem's systematic theology a few months ago and it came as a CD I was told to:

Load Logos 3 (aka Logos 1 mac)
Install CD package into logos 3
Sync license
Open Logos 4 and it should download

I also purchased WBC which was a CD only. But when I received my copy there was no license number so I had to call Logos support. They remotely unlocked it for me and it downloaded.

Hi Joshua

Putting the CD in the drive, starting Logos Alpha (or restarting it), typing in the Command box 'Scan Optical Media' and restarting Logos should work.

Lots of restarting I know but it is worth it in the end.

What did the final download look like? Did it appear to function well? I was looking at possibly purchasing and was wondering how well it functioned under L4/L4 Mac Alpha.

I am having a similar problem with a CD-Rom I just bought, the Lutheran Study Bible from Concordia Publishing House. I installed it on my iMac at home on Saturday. Logos 4 Mac Alpha didn't recognize it, so I opened Libronix (Mac 1) and it discovered it immediately. After installing, I reopened Logos 4 and it was there (as I had hoped).

So this morning I expected to have success repeating that same process on my Macbook, which I use at church. I installed it and can view it fine in Libronix (Mac 1), but it is not showing up at all in Logos 4. I have restarted my computer twice, and quit and restarted Logos 4 countless times. I tried calling support, but after the advice of typing "update resources" in the command bar didn't work, the tech told me to post in the forums. That was rather disappointing - I consider that very bad service, and doubt I'll call again.

So, I came here to the forums, and tried the "Scan Optical Media" trick. Nothing at all seems to happen. Any advice as to how I can get Logos 4 to recognize that I am the proud owner of the Lutheran Study Bible and actually let me use my new toy tool?

As far as I can tell both resources I bought via disk work the same as any other resource in Logos L4 PC or Mac.

I've noticed I can have my MacBook Pro and MacPro on the same network. Run "Update Resources" and only 1 of them will find a update, like Alpha 18. I haven't paid enough attention if it's always the same machine that's not finding the updates or if it varies. But it's a weird problem.

And very disappointing for tech support's response to be post on a forum.

Logos CS doesn't mean to disrespect you guys, they just aren't trained in all the ins and outs of the software because it is still in development. Thus their check lists of solutions for the Windows product may not work on the Mac side. The Mac Devs and CS reps that are up to speed on the software frequent the forums. The request to post on the forums is so that you guys get the right help as soon as possible.

In general it would not be in anyones interest to have the developers answering the phone rather than fixing the bugs and making the thing work well for everyone.

However the developers do drop by. They do examine logs when posted. They do offer helpful advice through the forum.

Many have found that their resources appear after a couple of days or on the seventeenth go at "update resources"

Fair enough re. phone support. I didn't realize that, but I recognize I ought to have. Had it been put to me the way you did, that would have made me more content.

Anyway, yes, I've tried selecting from the drop-down menu, etc. Nothing works thus far. Thanks for your response.

Thanks for everyone's replies. I just thought of something, I can't try it yet because I don't have the disc. I don't have Logos 1 for the Mac but I do have Logos 4 still installed on my old laptop (windows), that I no longer use. Could I just load the resource onto that computer? Wouldn't that at least unlock this resource for me and the next time I update my Logos 4 Mac on my Apple computer it will DL without the disc?

Also, would it be possible to do this same thing if I was running Parallels?
