Is Fundamentals worth it

I just got Logos this week, and I'm still using the free version. I plan on getting silver by the end of the month, but was thinking about getting fundamentals now. I just have some questions before I buy it.

If I buy fundamentals will the price of silver be adjusted for the stuff I already have?

Is there anything in fundamentals that is not in silver?

I noticed there is a verbum fundamentals, is there one for the other traditions?

Do yall think i should just wait, and only get silver?

No - there is just one for Logos and one for Verbum.

I'm afraid that's really only a question you can answer. I would think it depends on the additional value you would get from it vs waiting until the end of the month.

The only thing I'd add, is beware the concise-iferousness of lower-end packages.

Quite often the basic packages will include a concise version of a larger resource. Or basic, usually older resources that are largely just intros. When you buy a larger package, these type resources typically gather digital dust.

So, as above, it depends on you ... if all you need is basics, Fundamentals is good. But if you see your future with an in-depth library, then, the old Logosian 'saw' applies: Buy the most you can afford and actually use.

If Richard buys Logos 9 Fundamentals now as his first base package, it seems that he can get it for $50 instead of $100, and he can also get some other old Protestant books thrown in. Verbum 9 Fundamentals is also available for first time base package purchasers for $50 right now, but without those other extra Protestant books. Either of these deals would increase the chance that Richard would save money by buying Fundamentals first, but a Faithlife sales rep should be able to confirm either way.

If you can get Verbum fundamentals for $50.00, it will add useful basic things that are not in Logos Silver. The overlaps, will reduce the price of Logos Silver.

At the basic and fundamental levels, Verbum gives you some helpful things not in Logos. You will have the free Verbum 360 training in the software itself as well as at youtube.

Install Verbum and train with the videos. Then when you do get the Logos Silver, uninstall the Verbum and install the logos.

Training and cost, you will be ahead by doing this with Verbum, first. Not so much if you do it with Logos Fundamentals.

I don't have anything above Verbum and Logos Bronze. By buying widely from the legacy libraries and the base packages listed in my signature, I don't NEED Silver. I will upgrade to silver at some point, but I always want individual books more and keep putting it off. At Bronze, I think I am better still using Verbum app than Logos, but not as glaringly as at Basic and Fundamentals. I have tried the Logos Bronze app, and my searches just don't seem to be tagged as well to the things in my library.

When you are on a product page, just above the list of features and resources is a little check box labeled "Hide Owned Resources". If you check that, it will hide all the things you already own.

If you have a license to the Sermon/Homily Builder/Manager feature(s), that license will allow you to use them in both Logos and Verbum. [:)]

Yes, I have run the preaching suite resources in Verbum Fundamentals, Verbum Starter, and Verbum Bronze.

But vise versa, some of the Catholic stuff doesn't work as well in Logos as in Verbum, though. Everything is always available if you choose it from a menu and click on it, but not everything comes up as a default. I prefer to run Verbum when I don't have the Silver features. When I tried a month trial of a subscription and had more advanced features, Logos was as good as Verbum for whatever I was doing. When I canceled the subscription, I uninstalled Logos and went back to Verbum.

Others have answered many of your questions. I'll add my experience

I started off using the free demo, comparing it with Accordance. Eventually I decided to go with Logos. I did a feature comparison of the different packages and thought about what I'm most likely to use, then got Fundamentals plus a couple extra translations and one extra commentary. I am really enjoying studying without having ten books spread all over my desk.

Side note: There is one extra feature in silver that I want, but I can't justify the extra money for that one feature. When I phoned Logos to inquire about it, they found one smaller add-on that will provide that feature but it's still $150, so it's on my wish list and if it ever goes on sale I'll see about adding it.
