FL does not "pre-announce." With that said, they have been on a two year release cycle. This fall is a good estimate. As for what new features it will have... we won't know until then.

Relax ... following precedent it will be out this fall. mid-to-late summer there might be teasers from the top brass as to what is in it. Beta testers keep their mouths shut until release because features may be in testing but not ready in time for release. My own guesses without the assistance of a crystal ball are (a) some sort of lesson maker to replace the WordSearch feature as it is marked as in progress on FeedBear (b) yet another attempt to simplify some portion of the Search function because this has been part of the past several new releases and (c) none of the issues that really bother me because that is the norm.

I really hope FL doesn't jack up the price because greedy publishers (including FL) want to compensate for the US dollar becoming monopoly money. :D

There is always a problem with 'jacking up the price' when it starts at Zero. Those 'greedy publishers' might want to increase it by 100%!

And where would that get them?

I really hope they do something with prioritization. It has been clunky for years.

Not Jerry, but for one: No organization. You should be able to sort and organize the prioritization list.

Right, the standard grievance, I didn't know if there was anything else I may not have thought of. I too wish it was sortable, etc. Though not sure that is my priority for what I would like Faithlife to work on.

I would like to see a clear "breakout" of the prioritized list of resources associated to particular types.

Same here. It's hard to see what's in the list and what categories I've got covered. If this were implemented, that status could be shown in the information pane about the resource in the library.

For pretty much the reasons above. I wish there was a separate tool with sections for Dictionaries, Commentaries, etc. There has to be a way to make it easier to use.

It would also be nice if prioritization could be guided. I'm thinking of Pandora's model: users who used similar books as you do prioritized these commentaries, these dictionaries, etc. Then what you prioritize would fine-tune future recommendations. It does run the risk of becoming a locked cycle where early high rankings are self-reinforcing (like the website BestCommentaries.com or the US News and World Report College Rankings), but I think a well-prioritized library is such a tremendous benefit that making it as easy as possible for people makes sense.

Very much agree! And it doesn't take much. Maybe different colors for the different types of resources...

Not disagreeing per se'.  But when they simplified Libronix (the old L3), in favor of 'prioritizing' in the library pane, they also dummied it down to guesswork.

By and large for most users, Bibles, lexicons, dictionaries, and commentaries cover the waterfront. But the actual indices, even back in Libronix days, is considerably more complicated.

Libronix had a pane at least to show which resources had which indices.  Logos4 onward doesn't. At best, there's the clickable textbox for a resource, the arrow-key to suggest matches while using a resource, and almost the add-tab choice (which limits within a resource).

Examples where you have to click-and-check: Josephus, Philo, Pseudepigrapha, church-fathers, DSS, and specific individuals, like Jubilees, Enoch, etc.

Definitely improve prioritization, but include what-matches-what to be prioritized.

I pray that Logos 10 incorporates ZipScript from WordSearch... or has something like it to insert biblical text into document in Logos or outside of Logos such as Word, Powerpoint, Excel, and others.

xn = Christan  man=man -- Acts 11:26 "....and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch".

Ok, can you please explain ZipScript to me? I've seen it mentioned several times but can't find anything about it.

Nobody ever really knows.  It’s a 2 year cycle release but dates change, they’re not really consistent. It could be Some time between August and November.  Leaked information usually happens a few days before release date. Stay tuned!

We already have a function like that.  The Copy Verse function where you can format how you want the verses copied and pasted into other documents in or outside of Logos.

Well that's what I thought so I was wondering if there was some magic that ZipScript did that Logos doesn't have or if people just don't know about the copy verse tool?

Maybe Zscript sounds cooler 😎 But from what I remember, the free ESV CD-ROM had Zscript. I don’t think it was an original WORDsearch feature. They just adopted it.

Zipscript existed prior to the ESV and was original to WordSearch although it is a stand alone app. It does what Logos Verse Copy does not. It accesses your  Bibles without opening the main program and allows you to paste verses into any application on or off line.

Zipscript loads at start up so that if you need to paste a verse it is available all of the time, no need to wait for a main program to load or index. I personally use it about 10 times daily to paste verses into various online apps, social media or forums like this....

God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.
    John 4:24 (HCSB)

That took all of 5 seconds without opening a main Bible program. Powerful for online ministry.

And here I thought Zipscript was a Walmark prescription app [A] (ZipScript for Android - APK Download (apkpure.com)) Why would I want it in Logos?

The convenience of ZipScript is that you didn't have to open WordSearch to use it. If you were typing a casual email or something and decided to add some scripture, you just used ZipScript.

If you are doing study or research, you'll most likely have Logos open so it wouldn't be a biggie. It is just the speed factor when you know what you want to paste quickly.

    I made a quick 2:40 comparison video here: https://vimeo.com/724550065

In the video, I am writing a simple email and know what scripture I want to add.

Those that have not used ZipScript... won't understand why I pray Logos will incorporate it into Logos. They seem to be happy with their form of "copy and paste" .... of which ZipScript is far superior.

Since I've used both ZipScript and Copy Verse in Logos many moons ago (and I just tested them right now) I can say this: ZipScript is fast for quick copy and paste, but Logos is not that far behind.  When it comes to different formats, Logos is far superior and versatile. ZipScript is a one trick pony and it's good at it, but Logos has its few tricks under its sleeve and it can be just as fast or faster if you know how to use it.  For me, I keep the program open so I don't have to go through the opening the program step.  I only close it when an update requires a restart.  But going back to Logos Copy Verse capabilities -- For example:

    1.  You can copy and paste a verse in 11 different formats.

    2.  You can copy and paste manually into a document with two clicks.  All you have to do is click "Copy" and then you go to where you want to paste and paste it there.  OR...Drums please! tatatatatatatatatat tatatatatata [:D]

    3.  You can copy and paste automatically into 10 different locations which totally blows ZipScript out of the water, because it even opens automatically those locations for you.  Here are the different locations where Logos copies and pastes your verses and it opens them for you.  Ah and did I mention that if those locations are already opened, then Logos is super fast in that it virtually "Teleports" the verses into those locations with one click of a button -- Talk about lightning fast, eh? [:O] [:P] [;)] Here are the locations:

    A.  Faithlife Proclaim

    B.  Editor HTML

    C.  Microsoft PowerPoint

    D. Microsoft Publisher

    E. Microsoft Word

    F.  Library Office

    G.  StarOffice

    H.  WordPad

    I.  WordOffice

    J.  Other

Like I said, if you choose "Send to PowerPoint" and PowerPoint is already opened, the verses just appear there in a blink of an eye.

Now having said that, I rarely use copy and paste.  Since I preach from my laptop, I don't need to copy and paste verses, they're automatically hyperlinked in my outline, so when I need to read a verse, I just click on the hyperlink and it shows me the verse in my preferred Bible.  So unless you're sending emails everyday with full copied and pasted verses, then I don't see how bringing ZipScript over to Logos can bring anything to the table.  Logos is just as fast and more versatile and like anything, you just have to get used to it and know your way around it. [;)]

    Ta dah! [:)] [Y] [H]

😂😂😂 I must confess that was the first thing that came to my mind since I had not used the app in such a long time! 😂😂😂 Maybe Faithlife can sue Walmart for copyrights and use the money to develop ZipScript for use in Logos 😂😂😂

ZipScript is a one trick pony

and, unless I am mistaken a 'one platform pony' ie only works on machines running Windows?

I keep the program open so I don't have to go through the opening the program step.

Can someone explain why they would close the program on a regular enough basis to make opening it a chore?

From this side it seems an odd hobby to indulge in. Logos gets restarted enough for updates without restarting it arbitrarily. Most of the time it sits in my rightmost workspace and simply waits to spring into action. It springs into action with a single click only because the homepage seems to wander off if not paid attention to. :-(

Here Logos sits on the right, also staring from right to left - Sermon Docs Desktop 6 - Funeral in Prep Desktop 5 - Rotary Presentations Desktops 4 & 3 - This post Desktop 2

Desktops 8 to 12 are out of sight on my second monitor.
