Layout including Lectionary question...

Whenever I click on the preferred lectionary on the home page it opens a layout with today's readings. Very convenient but the layout is not my favorite. So I create a layout more to my liking and save it. However, when I open my saved layout it open the lectionary readings to the date of my last save, not today's reading.

Q1: Is there a way to have my template open a lectionary to "today" rather than "date of last save"?

Q2: Is there a way to edit the default layout that opens when I click on the preferred lectionary on the home page?

Suggestion for Faithlife: Ability to enter the word "today" on lectionary date entry fields, or some other mechanism that allows us to set a default lectionary open date to "today" and return easily to "today" after looking at another date.

The answer is "no" to both your questions. Logos is working on providing more support for liturgical date so I expect this to change but don't know the details. However, always automatically going to current date rather than saved date is not satisfactory for everyone, especially those using daily lectionaries. The date of most interest may be:

today's date
date of service currently being planned
date of service at which I next preach/teach

As MJ said, we don't currently have the ability to customize the layouts launched from the homepage or set a saved layout to automatically open to today, but (if you're not already aware of them), there are a couple of quick ways to navigate to "today" in the lectionary, once you have it open:

1. Type "today" into the Active Reference Box and press Enter.

(Note this also works for "tomorrow", "Sunday", "Monday", etc.)

2. Press the Home key to jump to the title page and click "Today's Reading".

While watching a Morris Proctor webinar recently he demonstrated way to save a layout on mobile that could do just this –– open a resource saved to a layout to the current date.

Is there any way to do this in Logos 9 on the desktop?

Good grief! You've added your question to a post from 2015. On the desktop there is a default layout for lectionaries that does this. You may modify that layout to meet your needs.

Yes I saw the date but this was the most relevant post I could find when doing a search on the forums and via Google. My logic was that if it comes up for me in a search then it will probably come up for others in a search too. Until there is a time when there is readily available comprehensive documentation for Logos then these posts will continue to act as unofficial wiki for issues such as this. Consider it a bump on the topic.

I am also aware that I can modify the default/home page Lectionary layout but in this instance I have particular reason for having my own customised layout separate to the default layout.

I am surprised that this can be done easily enough on mobile but not on the desktop. Like many things in Logos this could simply be down to my ignorance

It is easily done on the desktop I think - I don't have time to test it right now. Calendar resources all default to opening to today's date. What specifically are you having trouble with on the desktop - a screen shot of your desired layout would help.
