Is it possible to insert into notes a table that is in a docx file or the same table in pdf file?

No, tables are not currently supported in Notes.
You can import images if that helps at all.

Thanks. I am trying to import a .png (image) file that is on my hard drive but it appears that this cannot be done either. Is this correct?

This should work. I've just tested it and it worked fine.
You should be able to just "drag" the file from a folder on your hard drive and "drop" it into the note where you want it.
What happens if you try this?
