I am thinking about adding an Orthodox package to my Logos and was wondering if I should just wait and see if a new version of Logos comes out later this year and all the packages go on sale and get it then.
Thanks!
Well, first ... we don't know. Instead, we peer into the distant Logosian past (2 years ago).
- Historically they introduce NEW packages (same names; different contents) with a major update.
- We don't know if the legacy packages will remain. And if Logos9 will remain as a legacy package this fall.
The trick was to buy 30 days in advance of the likely rollout; then you could reduce the risk. But that's probably unneeded?
I'm looking at L8 Orthodox Gold ... but on the fence.

If there are resources you need in the current offerings then you should buy them now - they may not be included in the new packages.
If there are resources you want in the current offering, and money is not a consideration, then you should by them now for the reason above. You know that if you add a new package after Logos 10 then you will benefit from 'Dynamic Pricing'.
I there are neither resources you want nor resources you need in the current offering then it would probably be wise to hold off until either the situation changes or hell freezes over.
It also depends on whether you're talking about Legacy packages. If there's a Legacy package with resources you want, I'd buy now as the price won't be better in the future and L10 may not have the resources that are in the current Legacy Libraries.
Thanks all for your reply.. I should have specified I am talking about when Logos 10 comes out. I would like to buy the package then. For Logos 10. Especially if its on sale.. Its seems like when Logos 9 was released all the Logos 9 packages were on sale for a period of time..
They do seem to have a launch sale normally for all the packages.
Historically the only thing that remains the same is the names of the package containing resources (and maybe datasets).
With other programs you would be expected to buy at the same level you now own or higher.
If you bought GOLD (in that other program for example) you would buy GOLD this time.
Not true in Logos. GOLD is just a level of package that they are now selling with (sometimes) little in common with the last GOLD package.
What you may find interesting is the datasets that go with the packages. Some of the functionality of Logos is in the datasets.
You may not find anything in the new GOLD package that you want but you might want to purchase the GOLD dataset.
Others will (hopefully) explain more.
I just made a big package purchase (Verbum Diamond) despite the fact that L10 is coming soon. I decided not to wait because (1) the current package is a great value, (2) I want to benefit from the resources now and not wait until the fall, (3) there is no guarantee the L10 packages will be any better.
From what I recall when we went from 8 to 9, they started giving large discounts to 8 in the weeks leading up to the release of 9.
Also consider that some commentary sets move up to a more expensive base package (e.g. NAC moved to gold, PNTC moved to Platinum, etc.).
