Text Compare Bible Selection Issues

The "Text Compare Bible Selection" panel or myself is UN-intuitive.

Could someone please help me understand how this works?

I try to choose the Bible versions I want, but can't get them up into the active area.

The videos I tried make it happen, but I do not see how.

Thanx for any help. All much appreciated.

The basic idea is to find a translation you want to include by specifying it in the Find box

You then select it and it gets added to the list of translations / original language texts.

You can deselect any you don't want

When you come out of the selection menu, the Tool should be populated with the resources you have specified.

What of this is not working for you?

In our bible study sessions we have been thinking about the forces for evil in the world.

I think the 'Text Comparison' tool fits the bill.  ;-)

Having searched and got the tick box list that Graham shows in his answer.

Eschew 'return' or 'save' (which I don't believe does anything) and any other logical way to move forward.

The 'black magic' next step is to click somewhere else on the Logos panel and your selection will be put in place by some imp from the nether regions.

Sometimes, Mr Binks, you opine with exactly true words. I can say for years, I've battled the strange TC text box. Having depressingly retreated at L7, I just assumed, it'd improve, as I licked my wounds.

Who knew save could not save?

My L7 has returned to happiness.

Save actually does do something - but it isn't how to make the selection active.

It saves the list of selected Bibles so that you can easily return to it later

As you say, to make it active you need to click outside of the panel. While it might seem a strange mechanism, it is behaving exactly as per the help file which says:

Type the name or abbreviation to filter Bibles or other resources, and select the checkbox for the desired Bibles.

Drag titles up or down to choose the order they display in.

Click outside the pop-up for those selections to be applied.

So I am not alone. I do not give up easily, so this has driven me to the edge...

But If I can get a bit more help I may be able to cancel counseling  : -)

I was trying to get MNT (Moffat) & NTMS (Weymouth) up there with no success.

Does it make any difference if it is just a NT?

Thanx folks. Clicking outside does help a bit.

I still do not know why "English Bibles" shows many, including MNT & NTMS:ITEETRGT,

but I cannot get them into the active area.

I was trying to get MNT (Moffat) & NTMS (Yeymouth) up there with no success.

Try typing Moffat for the first, and Modern Speech for the second. Alternatively, select those resources in your library, and using the information pane there, set the abbreviation to something appropriate rather than letting Logos guess at an abbreviation.

I've written up a case for the bug where it doesn't match abbreviations when one hasn't been explicitly specified.

FYI: I struggled for years (and many Philana posts) before the light finally dawned on how the selection function of Text Comparison works. Now I think it is an easy and brilliant design that needs to be implemented everywhere for it not to be confusing.

Good point Graham but wouldn't it be good if after building your list and pressing Return or Enter we were presented with a pop up that might read

'Congratulations - you have discovered number 42 in our list of UI inconsistencies  - now go to the help file for a hint.'
