Can Factbook be disbaled?
I used to use the search bar to search my texts but now it defaults to searching factbook! ARRRGH! I know I can use the keyboard shortcut, "shift+enter" but I'm not in the habit of doing so. I just want search results to show up when I click the green "Go" button. I'm sure factbook is a wonderful feature that I don't understand the full benefit of but it has so far never yielded me any information that I want. It's like some vicious resource has asserted it's dominance over all my other material. Can someone please tell me how to get rid of it?

Hi Eric - and welcome to the forums
I'm afraid there isn't any way to do what you are asking.
The software is designed to present a range of options when we enter something in the command box - either carrying out a command, running a search, accessing a tool such as Factbook. It is supposed to tailor the order information is shown in to match how we each, individually, use it but there are lots of reports that seem to suggest that isn't working as it should be.
At the moment, the shift+enter option is a reliable way of getting to the search feature, or you could open a separate search window and entry the search term in there

Thank you for the quick reply. You said what I was afraid you would say but you gave me another idea. Is there a way of customising the taskbar? Can I, for instance, remove the command bar that is currently there and replace it with a button that links specifically to the search feature? Thanks again for helping?

You cannot remove the Command Bar, but you can add searches to the shortcut bar.
You can even customize a search the way you want it, e.g., search in all of a particular author, and add that search to the shortcut bar.
Simply drag the search panel (set up the way you want it) and drop it on the shortcut bar.

That's interesting. I never realized that was a button! I always thought it was part of the dummy text "Enter passage or search." Thank you all for helping with my newbie-level questions.

Is it still the case that Factbook cannot be disabled? I'm speaking specifically about the additional clutter of Factbook links which show up when I hover over the text with a mouse in the desktop version? I haven't seen an option under preferences for turning this annoying (to me) feature off.

For the text popups, the little Factbook icon in the resource's bar turns them on/off. Or using the clickdown menu, selectively turn them off (or turn them all-resources off with the choice at the bottom of the clickdown menu.
Or I'm misunderstanding.

Thanks - simple enough once you know (or are told) where to look! Was able to turn the feature entirely off once I saw how at the bottom of the icon in one of the resources.
