Emphatic Negation Visual Filter
I was trying to do a search for emphatic negation to save a visual filter. My search was lemma:οὐ BEFORE 1 WORD lemma:μὴ
I am doing something wrong as I get zero results in the ESV, NASB95, and UBS5.
I can do a Logos Grammatical Construction search but that just gives me results with verses. I was looking for something more useful.

My search was lemma:οὐ BEFORE 1 WORD lemma:μὴ
Try lemma:οὐ BEFORE 1 WORD Lemma:μή - note the last lemma vs. yours.
You must use this in a Morph Search.

Not with the modified search, but this is where you come across the limitation of bibles with reverse interlinears. The word spacing is determined by the translated words and if the Greek words are translated as a single word (e.g. never), the effective spacing is zero. So you use:
lemma:οὐ BEFORE 0-1 WORD Lemma:μή
But there will be false positives and missed results because of Greek word alignment/order e.g. Mt 12:24. You should always use Greek bibles for searches like this.

Try lemma:οὐ BEFORE 1 WORD Lemma:μή
{Section <GrammaticalConstructions = Emphatic Negation>} produces different results, partly because of word order. So compare it with
lemma:οὐ WITHIN 1 WORD Lemma:μή

Graham, thank you. I do not only want to highlight verse, but make a custom visual filter that I can use in any biblical text. Below is the section in the Visual Filters that custom (for lack of a better word) is kept.

Thanks for your input and correction of Lemma.
lemma:οὐ BEFORE 1 WORD Lemma:μή and lemma:οὐ BEFORE 0-1 WORD Lemma:μή produce the same results (188 results in 85 verses).
lemma:οὐ WITHIN 1 WORD Lemma:μή produce 194 results in 88 verses. There is three more verses when I search for WITHIN 1 WORD.
I am working on narrowing down why the different results. We are on the right track!

In a Greek bible, yes. 0-1 is needed for translations with reverse interlinears.

WITHIN – searches places οὐ before of after μὴ. Therefore, more results.
BEFORE - keeps the correct word order of οὐ before μὴ

I know that Dave has helped you get the search string you wanted but I still don't understand why the Emphatic Negation search using the tag I mentioned doesn't work for you. You mentioned a visual filter but it didn't appear in your post. Could you please try again, using the paperclip icon in the forum editor to include it?

The search you had gives me verses. I wanted a visual filter that I could turn on and off to highlight Emphatic Negation within the text itself while I am reading without a specific search. Sometimes I find it easier to see the bigger picture if I don't isolate verses within a search. Mine is highlighted in blue. John 20:25 with Thomas.

It might help to explain what you mean.
.This result comes from a Visual filter using {Section <GrammaticalConstructions = Emphatic Negation>}. The appearance is the same when using the lemma search.

I think we end up in the same spot. Your way does a specific search for grammar. I wanted to do a visual filter to highlight in the text without doing a search. Either way we see the same thing.

I think you may be talking past each other. A visual filter does a search - that is why you can verify the filter condition by running the condition as a search.

I tried this Morph search:
(lemma:οὐ BEFORE 1 WORD lemma:μή) ANDNOT {Section <GrammaticalConstructions = Emphatic Negation>}
It finds two legitimate instances of Emphatic Negation, which are not tagged as Emphatic Negation.
A search for (lemma:οὐ BEFORE 1 WORD lemma:μή) finds four more results than {Section <GrammaticalConstructions = Emphatic Negation>} because each word is counted as a result when you search for two search terms.
This is not the first time that I have found grammatical constructions that are not correctly tagged. Even with this limitation, I love the grammatical construction and syntactic force tags.
