Searching for Allusions to the OT in the NT noted in Appendix III of NA28 Critical Apparatus
1. I am searching for “allusions” to the OT in the NT.
2. I am specifically looking to search the allusions noted in Appendix III of NA28 Critical Apparatus.
3. Have tried, but am being foiled! Seems like I may have to revert to manually scrolling through the appendix.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I can't think of any way of doing this as we can't specify that we want to constrain the search to a particular section of the resource.

I'm not sure exactly what you're searching for (specific book, etc), but I often use hard text searches in the apparatus text ... they're pretty consistent in formatting (setting up visual filters).
In the Appendix III, the preceding colon and space plus book abbreviation do a good search (a few exceptions in other appendices).

I think you're right Graham. Will have to resort to a manual search to find the relevant references.
DMB I've tried hard searches in App III but with no consistent results. I am simply trying to search for specific biblical references in the appendix to find allusions. For example I cannot search for Daniel 3 [hyperlinked as "3"], or its reference to Philippians 2:15 [hyperlinked Ph 2,15].

Appendix III (without page numbers) is not searchable. App I, II and IV are searchable and have page numbers.
A simple test is two "words" close together e.g. Mt Ap which only gets results in App I (with Surface Text, Match Case to reduce results).

That would be an interesting feature.

The point being that the biblical references in Appendix III cannot be located (fully and consistently) through the search or find functions.
Thank you all for your input.

I know this is something that needs to be fixed in Logos, but as a workaround, could you copy that whole Appendix and paste it into Word, and then search there? It wouldn't have the flexibility of being able to match any form of any reference (e.g., Php and Phil for Philippians), but at least it's a start.

Had never thought of that Rosie! Great idea, thank you. I could format in Word and use Appendix III as a personal book.
I just think the allusions provided in NA28 are excellent and would be worth formatting by Logos to make them fully searchable, or alternatively incorporating the material in its own intertext section of the concordance. For example the allusion found in Phil 2:15 to Dan 12:3 (which clearly is an allusion) isn’t found in the Logos concordance / intertext section.

We can make the Appendix searchable. If all goes well, we'll have an update available on June 21.

Superb Kyle. That's great to hear! Appendix III will be an incredibly helpful resource to have as searchable text.
It was actually Gregory K. Beale that recommends it as one of his top resources on allusions to the OT in the NT.
