Reboot needed after Logos update for Smart Tages to work

Why does Logos requite a restart of my computer after a Logos update in order for Smart Tags to work? It is at best frustrating, as well as a waste of time, to have to close down all running programs and then reboot the computer and restart Word before Smart Tags will work. Doing the "options stuff" in Word does not preclude the reboot. I would appreciate any suggestions as to how to be able to avoid the reboot. Even better, I would appreciate Logos making it so that a reboot is unnecessary after program updates.

I am sure that this is frustrating and as far as I am aware atypical on all the platforms Logos Desktop runs on.

I guess that before we make assumptions it would be helpful for you to let us know...

Thank MJ – I wondered why I had seen no other complaints. Guess that makes the OS question irrelevant. I take it that this is a 'Word' problem?

Thanks Mike. I am running Logos 9.14.00022. Here is the info regarding my computer: - Windows 10 with 2022-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 21H1 (KB5013942) and all other previous updates.

I am aware that "MS deprecated this function several years ago."

As I tried to indicate, STs were working perfectly immediately before Logos installed the update. After it installed the update and Logos restarted STs did not work. This has happened every time that Logos "updates" itself.

Thank you for your report as I hadn't tried Smart Tags in nearly 12 months.

I can confirm STs work in MS 365 Version 2205 Build 16.0.15225.20028 32-bit with Logos 9.14 on Windows 11 version 21H2.

I had just updated to Logos 9.14 without a computer reboot, but I had to re-activate Actions in Word 365 as I had disabled them in 2021.

The most I have had to do in the past is restart Word or check its Actions. If you have to reboot the computer there is no way to avoid it.

Thanks Dave. I am just glad that I am able to get STs to work, even if it requires a reboot on my system. As I indicated, the reboot is a hassle and time waster, but at least it gets STs to work after a Logos update. STs is one of my most used, and appreciated, "features" of Logos, so I certainly want to keep them working.
