A Women's Studies Bundle

Good morning,

I'm new to Logos; I just made my initial purchase on Friday. I'm working on a PhD in church history at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and I tend to do work on exegetical history, patristics, and women's history.

I purchased an Orthodox Gold bundle and a Lutheran Silver bundle along with an Orthodox Legacy package so I could get the entire ACCS collection; I then augmented these with the Church History XL expansion and the Church Fathers XL expansion. I figured this gives me a pretty good basic library of primary and secondary church history sources. But there really weren't any broad women's studies packages that I could purchase to start my collection, at least not that I saw. My only option right now is to buy women's studies books one at a time.

It would be nice to see a Women's Studies expansion library. I'm envisioning here primary sources from women in church history and serious academic studies of women in the Bible and theology and church history, not devotional / homiletic stuff (like this collection: https://www.logos.com/product/17749/womens-bible-study-collection) or egalitarian-complementarian polemics (though a "both sides" resource like Two Views on Women and Ministry could be fine). The latter may be easier said than done as I suspect a majority of the academic studies on women in the Bible/church history/theology are by egalitarians or other feminist-leaning scholars, but a resource is a resource.

The FaithLife/Logos rep I purchased through did direct me to this collection here (https://www.logos.com/product/5728/gender-and-the-bible-collection), which is not a bad collection, but it's pretty Old Testament heavy.

Here's some of the women's studies books on my wish list, to give you an idea of the kind of bundle I would like to see:

The Logos Mobile Ed courses on Women in the Old Testament and New Testament would probably be a good addition to this hypothetical bundle as well.

And nice suggestions. There's a lot more possibles ... I think Faithlife wouldn't struggle at all for a library expansion package (eg S, M, L, XL). I dutifully tag each of mine, so they don't get lost in my library.

Great suggestion. I have many of these books, but you pointed out some that I had never heard of. Wondering if FL could make either a collection or expansion package or simply categories that would list resources we would never find without categories.

Ha! Women's body parts have typically been considered "bad words" too throughout history, somewhat more so then men's, though the main male one is still probably censored there too. I know a pastor who made all his elders say the "v" word (I won't spell it out, in case there are people here who are offended by it) out loud to get over their squeamishness about it. It's just a body part. Medical doctors use it all the time. I grew up not even being taught what it was called or that it was even there, which created a whole lot of ignorance and shame about sexuality, women's health, and feminine hygiene.

In second year Sanskrit, in reading a play, we reached a sentence that was so explicit no student was willing to give its translation - eventually the professor gave in an provided the translation. We then returned to the normal practice of students taking turns translating. It taught us a very memorable lesson on how cultural the "forbidden" words are.

Indeed. Even between the UK and the US, which both speak English, degrees of taboo vary depending on the word. In the UK, the word "bl00dy" is a vile word that nobody would use in polite society, whereas in the US it merely describes someone's condition when they have a wound. On the other hand, the "f" word is considered a worse swear word in the US than it is in the UK. Although times have changed and it's more acceptable (or variants of it) as an emphatic now than when I was growing up.
