Format link quotation in L4 form, not URL

Hi all. I was recently on vacation without internet access and found, to my chagrin, that most of my Logos-quotation links in BibleWorks or MS Word went through the internet — meaning they did not work!

I then found that, in creating my own link, I could click the three dots in a source, go to Copy location as:, and set to L4, which would link directly to Logos. Then, when I select text and press Ctrl+Alt+C, it copies a hyperlink in L4 (direct, no internet) form. However, if I select text and drag, or simply Ctrl+C selected text, it pastes into Word or BibleWorks with a link/footnote in URL format.

In other words, I'm able to select the Ctrl+Alt+C citation format, and I want to be able do do the same to the click-and-drag/Ctrl+C linking format.

My question: How do I set Logos so that, if I select text in Logos and drag to Word doc or Bibleworks, the link will be L4 rather than URL?

It is not possible. Word recognises an URL link after copying and saves you having to paste it when you select Link. The L4 link is not recognised and you have to manually insert it into the Link.

EDIT: The L4 link will not work across different applications unlike the URL link. I successfully use L4 in Word and my Firefox browser (for forum use) but it has to be manually inserted.

Thanks for taking the time to respond, Dave, but it sounds as if you're simply saying, "Yep, it's as you say and you can't change it."

But why should I be able to choose how a link copies (which I can, as I described), but not choose how it is linked in the copying of a selection of text? This should be customizable.

Faithlife has a policy of not borrowing money. Its features are limited to what customers spend and are chosen (partially) by what customers prioritize. Add a request to the feedback site Roadmap | Faithlife and add a link to the request here. Drum up support to see where it falls in customer priorities.

I was hoping you'd answer, MJ, since you seem to know an enormous amount about Logos!

But I don't understand your response. What does any of this have to do with borrowing money? I'd just like my footnotes to link directly to Logos and not go through the internet, so they'll work offline.

Everything - the programmers have to be paid. hardware must be provided for them. additional seats may be required for development tools . . . Faithlife prioritizes the work to be done based on a limited number of programmers. They do not hire more programmers based on their priorities if they don't have the money to cover the expenses for the required staff.

I realise that I had misunderstood your requirement as you are talking about the citation/footnote hyperlink after copying text. That link is always URL format as Faithlife prefer that for external use -- it is not affected by choosing a link format from the panel menu. BUT you can edit the hyperlink and replace it with an L4 link. Here are the steps:

copy the text to Word
choose the L4 format link in the panel menu of the resource (or copy via CTRL+Alt+C)
select the footnote hyperlink in Word and right-click
choose Edit Hyperlink
paste (CTRL+V) the L4 link into the Address box, replacing the existing link.

I had already figured out that much. But, see, I only have to check L4 one time in the panel menu, and all subsequent Ctrl+Alt+C's are L4. I don't have to change it every time.

It baffles me that I can't make a similar configuration as to how links from copied text are formatted.
