Once the complete Bible releases in print, the LSB will be made available to third-party Bible apps and software developers.

Based on this, the earliest we could expect it would be "by the end of 2021," but perhaps not until 2022.

What market is Legacy Standard Bible aimed at? Is this just a vanity project?
Given it is just a revision of the NASB1995 done by Scholars at Master Seminary who is it going to appeal to? NASB has never been a big seller.
Not sure the decision to translate name of God Yahweh is a smart move. The HCSB translated it Yahweh and it was seen as eccentric and put a lot of people off. Hence why the revision CSB is far more popular.
Don't get me wrong I am a bible geek and love comparing translations, but who is going preach from the legacy standard?

The market is those who have the wisdom to appreciate the wisdom that a literal translation imparts which cannot be gleaned from a so-called "thought-for-thought" translation. It's a smallish market, but loyally appreciative, and the NASB95 is the best of literal English Bibles. Sadly, Lockman, the publisher, seems to have veered from its core purpose w/ the NASB20, so the LSB may fill the niche Lockman appears to be abandoning.
I'm not a preacher per se, but I do teach occasionally, and I may use the LSB if it improves on the NASB w/o losing its benefits. Aside from being primarily a literal translation, the NASB95 has excellent marginal notes. For that reason, if those notes do not carry over (or perhaps get incorporated into the text), then I will stick w/ NASB95.
I like my coffee black and my working text with a minimal amount of fluff. This sort of thing is always better used than discussed. Looking forward to using it. I have the little app with the NT and Psalms/Proverbs. Much rather have it in Logos.[8-|]

This was the clue...he is the founder of Master's Seminary.
In the meantime, what happened to the NASB20? I would prefer the LSB, but that's probably a year away. I have been waiting for the '20 since October. I keep hoping for some new, but after 8 months of waiting, I think it's ridiculous.
Any idea when? I heard June, but....

I want the Legacy Standard Bible. I just purchased the NASB20 and I hate it. Number one, it doesn't have any references and the gender inclusive is something I'm not interested in.
The LSB is a combination of the NAS77 and the '95 version. It takes a much closer look at the original languages and applies it faithfully in English. It preserves covenant language (i.e. loving kindness) and uses the name of God throughout the OT (YHWH).
This will be a perfect Bible for serious students of God's word. I can't wait, but until then I continue to use the NAS95.

I can't say I hate the NASB2020 but it's not the right direction for thinking readers. It's beginning to play to the world. The LSB puts the focus where it belongs. Maybe I am biased, but I won't apologize.

I have the print version of the LSB New Testament with Psalms and Proverbs. It is in verse form. I also have it in Accordance and it can be exhibited in verse form or paragraph form. It is also has a RI.

By translating individual words as consistently as possible within their various nuances, it allows the reader to discern the Author’s intent.
I have had nothing but bad experiences with translations that try to make "Greek word meaning 1" always equal "English word 1". It focuses too strongly on individual words and ignores the degree the words around a word affect word choice and the influence of collocations. Sometimes a synonym is chosen for its sound, sometimes for its connotations. A bruise is "black and blue" not "blue and black" or "dark and aquamarine" for a silly example.

I thought that was possibly what you meant but just wanted to be sure. I understand what you are saying but I try to remind myself that even a translation principle like they propose they are using is more of a sliding scale of nuances rather than a black and white decision.

This got me to do some more wondering. Since the Legacy Standard Bible is really an update of NASB 1995 what are the implications now that the NASB 2020 has been released? In what way do you think that the NASB 2020 "is not the right direction for thinking readers"? I would appreciate hearing more of your thinking behind this.
From what I remember, the kerfuffle was over the use of gender inclusive language (human instead of man / brothers and sisters instead of brothers) thus pushing it closer to dynamic rather equivalent.

I for one am excited about it But I am no expert by any means. I like the translation of YHWH and slave instead of LORD and servant. I usually float between the Nasb/esv and nlt in my reading.

LSB Customer Service told me that the file they provide to digital platforms can be changed back and forth from paragraph to verse-by-verse format. I'm hoping Logos puts it out in paragraph format so we have an option to go back and forth (using the "one verse per line" feature). It appears that the Accordance version can do that too.
If you ever had done one time a Personal Book Bible, then you know this is the easiest thing to do. So I'm sure Logos is able too.
Ok, it's almost August; Accordance and now E-Sword have published the LSB and Logos still has no release date listed for their prepub. Is there any updates about when it should be released? If not, is it possible to go ahead and release the text and add functionality through updates?
So agree with this point of view. I have tried to use the NASB95 and the 77 over the years but they have never been daily drivers for me. I have pre-ordered the LSB for comparison use, but presently I am so at home with the discontinued and disparaged HCSB while having a KJV/NIV mental memorization database.
I am getting impatient for the release, but I don't think it will be much longer. The problem for me is Sermon Builder with whatever default Bible text is in Logos. I have to manually insert if I want the LSB text.
