Logos 9.15.0.0005 - Copy Bible Verses Failure

Since Logos updated to 9.15.0.0005 (desktop version; I have all the Logos 9 features, running on a Logos 8 library), the "Copy Bible Verses" feature fails. This was not a problem prior to this most recent update. Although the text does copy to the clipboard (I can use cmd-V to paste the text out of Logos), it no longer automatically inserts in the open MS Word doc (usually, a sermon that I'm working on). This is probably the feature I use most in Logos, even more than searching.

Am I the only one experiencing this problem?

Would greatly appreciate you looking into this and providing a fix.

Running Windows 11 Pro, Ver 21H2, OS Build 22000.795 on a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5.

Txs,

    Hi Mike,

    welcome to the user forums!

Unfortunately I can only tell that it's working fine on my machine (Logos Bible Software 9.15, build 9.15.0.0005) on Windows 10 Home 21H1, like this:

I'm probably using an older Word version, too (version 2206, part of MS Office Professional Plus 2016) - which one is yours, just in case this becomes relevant?

It's curious that Logos/Verbum will paste directly into Word, but not Publisher (I use Office 365). I have to take the additional step of pasting into Notepad before I can copy a bit into Publisher.

    Anyone else notice it?

I don't think it's an MS Word issue, as that hasn't changed. I use MS Office Pro Plus 2021, but it, too, is version 2206, maybe a different build.

But Word hasn't been recently updated. I'm very sure this began with the last update (was it just last week? recently for my computer, for sure) for Logos.

I just tried CBV feature to copy and paste Eph 2:8-10 into a Word document ... worked correctly. I used different predefined styles, all worked without a problem.

You mention that you can use ctrl+v to insert the text copy from the clipboard ... did you use the CBV feature to copy the verse(s) to the clipboard? Is the problem only about inserting into a MS Word document?

Which steps did you take? Enter the verse reference in CBV ? (e.g.  Which Bible version is selected? Is MS Word selected as the software to which you want to copy and paste? Are you using the "copy and paste" button or the "copy" button for executing the command?)

Hm. It does for my version of Publisher (2206 which again is part of Office Professional Plus 2016):

I wasn't aware of this, since I don't use Publisher at all, but it works here.

Hi, Wolfgang. Yes, I enter the passage I want to copy into the CBV and press the "Copy and Paste" button as I have in the past. But it doesn't transfer over automatically to the open MS Word document. If I go to the MS Word document and press ctrl+v, it shows up, and is properly formatted for the style I want in the document.

The only change that I'm aware of is the update in Logos.

Maybe the difference is that I'm using a 64-bit version of Word, versus 32-bit, and the updated version of Logos has a glitch with the 64-bit version?

Otherwise, I'm mystified, especially with a couple of you reporting no problems.

Hi I am experiencing the issue alsowith the "Copy Bible Verses" function. The Copy and Paste Button will not paste in Word.

    Logos Bible Software 9.15.0.0005
    Windows 11 Home

    It just stopped working.

Is there a fix for this?

Evidently not, Brian. From the lack of activity on this thread, it appears that you and I are the only ones experiencing this issue. I have not had any response from Logos, unless one of the earlier posters is part of Logos tech. Does Logos not monitor these forums? Anybody know?

I really miss the ease with which CBV used to work for me. Now it's a couple of steps.

No one from FL has responded. The forums are not a primary means to communicate with FL. They are largely “crowdsourced“ support.

Does L9 CBV tool open MS Word if you haven't started it yet when clicking "copy and paste"? On my computer (under Win10) MS Word opens to new page and pastes the text ...or if a document is open L9 pastes text to the open document.  Because the text is copied to the clipboard and you can manually paste it once you switch to Word, it seems that Logos and Word for some reason are no longer automatically recognizing each other and thus Logos' attempt to trigger MS Word into action is not received by MS Word.

Are you on a Mac or a Windows computer?

Hi, Wolfgang. Just tried it, and no, MS Word does not open on its own when I attempt "Copy and Paste." If I then open MS Word, I can still paste via cntl+v, and it is formatted correctly.

    What does that tell you?

And it's Win 11 Pro. See my first post in this thread.

Hi Michael. That leaves me wondering what might be going on there ...Somehow L9 seems to not automatically trigger MS Word into action when you click "copy and paste".  What happens when you change the copy to from MS Word to one of the other programs in the drop down list or use the "Other" at the end of the list?

Since it is not happening on others' installation, except for one who reported this trouble, I wonder if there is something present in the computer setup of those two computers which is not present on others' computers and which causes this inconvenience. ...

I have no further ideas at the moment

Txs for the ideas, Wolfgang. I tried "Copy and Paste" into other MS Office apps (Publisher, PowerPoint), same results. Whether the app was already open or not, it would not not start or paste automatically into the apps. However, I can use cntl+v to get the text into the app.

    Head-scratcher.

If you can think of some other ideas, I'm open to it.
