Timeline Question

Is there a way to search resources to find when Jesus healed Jairus' daughter? I don't see anything in the timeline tool. In the Chronological Study Bible it is listed in the section from 37 B.C. to A.D. 30. In The Reese Chronological Bible Dec. AD 27 is suggested. In the Life of Jesus Christ according to Gospel History by A. J, Maas he gives the Autumn, 31 AD as the date. What would be the best way to search my library to see what others have had to say?

Personally, I think it is futile effort. The Gospels contain historical records; The Gospels are not a chronological history of Jesus.

If I were interested in this I would start with Commentaries and NT Background Texts. In any case, I don't think you will find many sources dating this specific event.

Oh, I don't know about that (smiling).

- The synoptics describe a ministry year, prior to Jesus' demise (source of the account). John has 3 years, so adjust as necessary.

- Birth has 2 choices for year; Luke assigns 30 years, before ministry.

So, all you have to do, is work backwards from Passover, relative to crowd size growth, to get the approximate month. Then, 6 possible years.

How's that? A minor cludge is in John, I think, along the lines of 50 yrs. But that would put Jesus on Paul's mission trip. Toss that.

I, perhaps, carry it a bit further. I have two rules of personal Bible study:

If it causes you to consider scripture in detail (microscopic or macroscopic), it is Bible study
If it has no effect on how you worship, pray, or act, the Bible study is ineffective (academic)

However, to answer the original question:

Is there a way to search resources to find when Jesus healed Jairus' daughter?

I would search date AND "Jairus' daughter" which in my library returns 112 articles to review to see if they have relevant information.
