Eliminate “Find and connect to your church” message
Hi everyone - Like some previous correspondents to the forum I would like the “Find and Connect to your church” message not to appear when I access Logos 9 on my android mobile phone. I’m aware of the advice Graham Criddle kindly gave to fix this problem at: https://community.logos.com/forums/p/207743/1215840.aspx#1215840
I tried the proposed solution by going to “Church Presentation” and switching off “Ask to follow nearby presentations” and this seemed to work for a short while. However, I also want to switch off “Church presentations” as I have no use for that facility. Despite switching that off, then exiting the program and restarting the phone, the message still reappears after I re-enter Logos 9.
Two considerations - just in case they impact a possible solution:
(a) Given that the message is seeking to use my location, I should note that my android phone uses a VPN that sets my location as a different city from where I am for privacy purposes. When I have "church presentations" switched on, the app shows my location as unknown and I assume that's still the case when I switch "church presentations" off; and
(b) I only use Logos 9 on my phone unconnected to any wifi or internet connection so it is completely offline. The offending messages appear when I am offline.
Any suggestions to finally eliminate the “Find and Connect to your church” message would be appreciated. Keep well Paul

Probably useless suggestion, but did you turn the setting off, while online ... some of their coding is odd.
I was mystified at this issue, and its solution. Then, I noticed the Verbum app doesn't have that setting (church presentation) ... I guess doesn't do Proclaim.

Thanks DMB - I tried different possibilities, but it didn't seem to make a difference. I suspect our phone settings can have an impact on the app so people's experience may differ. I didn't know Verbum didn't have a 'church presentation' setting. Keep well Paul

Thanks Joe - I have just sent this on by Gmail. I've not sent any emails from my mobile phone before (I usually use a PC) so I hope that it worked out OK. Thanks for your assistance. Keep well Paul

Hi everyone - For the record, thanks to Samuel Leon (Faithlife) Joe (McCune (Faithlife) this issue has been satisfactorily resolved.
The logs for the Logos 9 mobile app didn't show anything specific which could be a problem. However, the solution was a removal and reinstallation of the app on my mobile phone. This seemed to allow the settings excluding "Church presentations" to operate and so the message "Find and connect to your church" no longer appears when I am online or offline.
Fortunately, I only had a few books on the app so a reinstallation was no problem and I could download them again.
In the problem that I was originally experiencing simply restarting the mobile app wasn't sufficient to fix the problem.
My thanks again to Samuel and Joe! [Y]
Keep well
Paul

I just wanted to note (also for anyone else that is still running into this issue) that none of these options have worked for me so far. No amount of reinstalling, enabling and disabling the Church Presentations option, etc seem to make a difference. This is running version 9.16.0 (Build 916000040). I've already sent a bug report, so am following up there, but I just wanted to note that this certainly does not seem to be resolved.

Same here. I changed the app setting Graham Criddle suggested, but I still get these interruptions each Sunday morning.

It's actually part of a long-term endurance / sanctification cooperative program instituted 25 years ago with RealAudio attempting to periodically hijack all of your sound files, and continues today with Microsoft shilling their browser and Adobe killing UI settings at every Reader update.

This has been on Android. I checked my iPad (running Logos 9.15.0), and it wasn't showing the same message. Just to make sure I uninstalled and reinstalled on the iPad, logged in, and it's still fine... no message. "Follow Presentation" isn't turned on... perhaps that's the default or the preference got saved on my account?
Out of curiosity, I uninstalled on Android and reinstalled again, and now the message is gone (though "Follow Presentations" is still enabled). Very curious. I'm not sure if something changed with Faithlife server-side, if the settings on Android finally took, or if maybe these messages as set to only display on Sunday, when it's more likely services are happening?

Same here, too. No matter what I do. It keeps returning. Doesn't matter when I am online or offline.

This has been fixed in the latest update to version 23 that was released this morning. Now, when you tap "No, thanks" in the notification, the notification will not show up again. Thank you for your patience on this!

First off, I gotta say that I feel you on this issue - sometimes app coding can be downright funky. But have you tried turning the setting off while online? It might just do the trick.

Anyway, I wanted to give a shout out to First Church Love - have you heard of them? They're all about spreading the love and joy of church and community. You can check them out at firstchurchlove.com. They're all about creating a welcoming space for everyone, regardless of their background or beliefs. Also, have you noticed that the Verbum app doesn't even have that church presentation setting? Weird, right? Maybe it's just Proclaim that's acting up.
